Nokia 6682 approved for Cingular distro?

Here is a branded one sitting on eBay @ $550. Is this a prototype leak or something? I had a Nokia rep tell me Cingular would start carrying them by the end of this month, but I think that's far too early. I have heard nothing through my channels (I need to give that dude a call back to see what's up).

My 6230 is going on eBay as soon as this thing comes in.

By the end of the month would be PERFECT! My upgrade date is 6/21 and my 6200 is on the verge of dying (bad screen or something) and this is finally the phone that offers a lot in a reasonably small package, and it's a Nokia.

I've looked at the Razr (no EDGE), the D500 and s710a (both too bulky) and the 6620 (who thought a pear shape was a good idea?). At any rate, please keep us posted if you hear anything firm.

IHAP is saying it probably won't be till after July, at the earliest. Not saying that's set in stone, but he's usually pretty close to being right. I'm definitely waiting for this phone, too.

good Lord.

that ebay auction is already up to $600 with a day and a half to go.

man, thats crazy...

that's a leak from Nokia or an insider. The final sw version of this unit has not even sent to Cingular. Good luck to whoever pays six bones for it with all the bugs in that version. Yikes!

Is it still looking good for a summer release (i.e. sometime before Sept.) or is this one going the way of the 6230 and gonna end up more like a Thanksgiving release?

No, you should ask him like...

Will we have this phone in the pocket of our shorts, or our heavy coats?

no, his question was valid; but again, I don't offer up dates unless they are about to happen. I'll let others make guesstimates

lol...i know. Just poking fun at the fact that you dont. I do appreciate the hints that you do give us, albeit cryptically.

Since IHAP's not going to give us anything to chew on for the next few months, does it bother anyone else that from the pic in the OP, the Cingular branding appears to be UNDER the plastic surrounding the screen?? Nearly IMPOSSIBLE to scratch off, or otherwise remove. The first thing I will be doing with this phone is calling Evan and getting it flashed to unbranded. Very few things do I hate worse than Cingular's extensive branding.

Ugh, the scourge of branding...if I get one it CAN'T have Cingular written under the screen.

Why are you all complaining about branding? If you don't want branding, just plan on getting the non-Cingular version. Not that hard. If Cingular is going to offer a phone at a discount, then yea I think they can put some branding in there.

Now if you're going to buy full price from Cingular, might as well get it full price regularly.

all the branding means is that it gives Cingular four or five months to waste before they introduce the phone to the public.

or as Cingular puts it, rigorous testing. :rolleyes2

Given my current situation, I'm going to have to use my contract renewal on this baby (just a one-year, though.). And I agree, a certain amount of branding is acceptable, but those stupid "shop XXXXXXX" links everywhere piss me off. I guess I would rather have it on the case than in the fw, new housing is usually cheaper and easier than a fw upgrade.

ahh the bliss of the uninformed

I'll be interested to see how easy it is to buy an unbranded model if it is a Cingular exclusive. I wouldn't want grey market.
