Cingular has Failed.

Im not on here to hate. I currently have cingular service in Tallahassee Florida where the signal is flawless. There are however major problems with Cingular. I had Att before the merger then went with Cingular. Since day 1 after we joined cingular december 20 2004 we have gotten bills every single month overcharged. We call and wait on customer service finally talk to someone and think it is resolved, but wait a week later they send us a threatening mail that says pay your bill or we will disconnect your service. The next day our phones were turned off even when we payed the "overcharged amount in full." After calling and asking to have them turned back on, they try to make us pay reconnection fee of 35 dollars a line. hahhahh that was funny, especially because come to find out, the reason the phones were disconected in the first place was some ******* at cingular incorrectly entered our check into the computer system. Every month it goes on, overcharging our account but we have finally given up. we will pay the claimed amount until we can end our contract with Cingu-TRASH wireless. The problem lies with Cingular. They took way too much on at once with the merger. Currently Cingular is trying to deploy UMTS in 15 cities by the end of 05. They need to work on there customer service and billing problems and integrate their ****** network before they worry about deploying UMTS. They have also failed because ATT deployed UMTS in 6 cities before the merger and they are so **** slow at completing their UMTS. Verizon has claimed they have EV DO in 32 cities, and I think its way more than that now, because we have EV DO now in Tallahassee, FL. Cingular has EDGE woop de doo slower than EV DO. Overall the only reason I like Cingular is cause its a gsm carrier. everything else about their billing and customer service is trash. When the contract runs out I will definately have T-mobile no questions asked because they won jd power and assoc. 2004 best customer service, plus its the only other gsm provider in the us. and they are planning to buy a large amount more spectrum in the wireless auctions coming up. T-mobile is def the number one carrier in us.

I've had nothing but trouble with them for the last 3 weeks. I thought everything was fixed but today I find out that my online account is no longer there. I called CS and the lazy sounding a$$hole simply just put in a ticket that he said can take up to 72 hours to fix. This was the same bullsh*t that they told me over and over again when they lost my ported number. I've been trying to hang in there because their coverage here is awesome and I thought everything would go fine after they took care of a couple issues. After today's issue I'm just sick and tired of dealing with them. I'm on my 28th day of the 30 day trial period and this will be the last day. I'm just going to up my minutes on my t-mobile account and use it as both my bus. and personal line, or maybe just get a 2nd line with them. I think if everyone from this forum got a job with CIngular, all the problems would be fixed. Everyone here seems to know a hell of a lot more than the reps you get when calling CS.

Cingular's customer relations are deplorable.

Don't forget to file a complaint with your state's government public utilities office. It may take some time but I have come to discover that it is worth doing. If enough people complain the state will take legal action. Unfortunately that seems to be the only way to get Crapular to listen.

I agree their customer service sucks. But, I will stick with them because their coverage is better than every other carrier, except maybe Verizon and that they are GSM. I like to have use of my phone when I travel overseas.

i had same billing issues all the time. now got better but service is not as good as it was when i had manual selection. like many have said before used to get att in aread where it was strong and not cingular if there was not much connection. now i am forced to be on the lower end of the stick... i might move to tmobile. or hell sprint. i know their cs sucks, but at least the coverage was awsome...

Just to let you know, as I posted in another thread, T-Mo coverage here in Tallahassee is absolutely great. You should talk to Alonzo Jefferson in the Monroe Street store because he ROCKS.

We finally got Cingular to let us out of our contract because the reception and customer service was so bad. Switched to Verizon and I can't believe the difference between these two companies. The customer service people treat you like friends and I haven't had a call drop yet. When I had Cingular I averaged 8 dropped calls a day.

I don't hate the people at Cingular but I sure hate the way they treat the customers that are paying their wages.

Why did you migrate? You should have just kept your AT&T Wireless account and when that expired, make your move to T-Mobile. That's my plan.

Yeah, but my gprs browser goes faster than cingulars edge, it also sends mms and email faster. I used my V635 with both carriers, unbelievable how bad cingular is especially when it comes to mms messages actually getting to their destination.

I left cingular because of the same problems the OP is having. I paid the ETF, anything to get away from those morons.

They also shut down the former AT&T tower i was roaming on at my apartment thus reducing me to one bar to no bars.

Cingular sucks, just plain sucks and i can't declare it enough to get my hatred for that company out of my system.

I have never had problems with t-mobile, and have had many with Cigul-ATT. You get better phones with T-mo, with a one year contract, instead of two, like with cingular. Their costumer service people are excellent and polite, and they're quick to fix things.

In my area everyone who has cingular is like "yay, I pay $60 and get 400 minutes, But I have ROLLOVER" Why pay that much when you can get 1000 anytime +unlimited nights/wknds with T-Mobile. I say keep your rollover!

While you are with Cingular, ask to speak with a manager on duty about your billing problems. You can also file a complaint with the FCC about cingular:

Absolutely. Do it! I have opened a complaint in Sacramento against them, myself.

They are misrepresenting their ability to provide service here--they dont tell customers that their new network is older and smaller. Instead, they tout more bars in more places.

The moment my contract ends, I am off to T-Mobile.

recently I roam on Cingular with EDGE
this is SLOW, slower than roaming on Suncom
and I often get network busy error btw 2000-2300 in Fort Jackson
