For those that dont know what PRL is it stands for Prefered Roaming List
PRL 10028 is in.

dial *2 press 1 say "data" say "hardware" you will get a rep tell them you need to be flagged for the new PRL they may say it is 10027, they will flag you for the update, you then hang up wait 1 minute or so you may want to remove the battery and put it back in, dial *2 "claire" the automated voice sysytem will come on the line press 1 then she will update your phone.
check your settings-phone info-version, scroll down and you will see the PRL

Why do this ? It helps improve your coverage area so you get better calls.

Actually it wouldn't improve your coverage, but it prioritizes (is that a word?) the preferred roaming carriers. Meaning it tells your phone which tower to look for if it's unable to get a good signal on Sprints towers.

But in no way improves your coverage. Coverage is what it is! But it does help your phone handle a poor signal more efficiently.

Yes thats what it means, but I put it in laymans terms. Its a good update for those that roam alot. However I find that the sprint coverage in the high desert is better than any other carrier even nextel
