Last night I sent them what I will admit was a email showing great frustration with trying to install and use their software. I was complaining about their installer and lack of good documentation.

This is the reply I got from their tech support:

"If you cant even manage to run an installation program and then do a hotsync, well dont bother.

Geesh, the quality of users has really gone down... you are a joke."

Now if this is how they reply to tech-support questions, do you want to do business with them?... I certainly don't. Even if my email was harsh, that's not the way tech-support is supposed to respond.

Just thought you'd be ammused, and should know what these guys are like.

You should just use treoalarm.

btw, I would like to have read the email you sent tech support.

Well, I called their program a joke. and complained about things not working.

Regarding the software, it appears they require a hotsync to get updated info.

But I found Express from Handmark. It works, gets the updated data without me telling it to, and does it wirelessly. Very cool.

Express is a nice app. I prefer apps that do one thing and do it very well. Most of these are free anyway. Tinystock has a nice stock ticker though.

Not sure I can blame them. I'm not familiar with the company, but if it's a small operation it's likely the techsupport folks have an emotional investment in the software. As such, it sounds like you directly insulted them; the response you received probably was toned down from their initial reaction.

Techsupport folks are people too. It is incumbent upon us to treat them as such; to say "that's not the way tech-support is supposed to respond" shows a lack of understanding.

It would be interesting to see the exact text of your email to them. There's always three sides to every story; yours, theirs, and the truth that lies in between.
