V3 vs 6230b

For those who have used both, any comments on which has better reception/call quality/RF?

TIA

The sound quality is better on the v3 ... meaning people sound clearer, but the volume is much louder on the 6230b. You would have a tough time hearing the other party on the v3 if you had your windows rolled

Reception is also better on the 6230b --> one of the best, if not the best phone as far as reception.

I prefer the sound of the 6230b because the v3's earpiece volume is just too low for me, despite the clarity.

I'm sure some may disagree, but this is what I found:
Better

Reception: Pretty even.
call quality: I would say on the whole that the v3 sounds better, but the 6230 has much better call volume. While calls sound better on the v3 (for me) I do notice more frequent choppiness.
RF: Really hard to say. The v3 seems to fluctuate more, but have never not been able to make a call where the 6230 can.

And just in case you were wondering the battery life on the v3 far surpasses the 6230. The 6230 would show lotsa bars and then all of the sudden plunge down to one or two battery bars. I have gotten a lot more battery life out of the v3 (especially once you make adjustments to the brightness/backlight settings).

The only reason I chose the use the v3 as the primary phone is because in comparison the 6230 is pretty heavy and blocky. All things aside, the 6230 is a more well-round and full-featured phone.

For me, the v3 was better in the following regards:
Size (portability was a huge factor for me)
Battery life
Looks didn't hurt
Really do not like the 6230 keypad
For me, v3 much more comfortable to hold for long periods
Can assign individual ringtones (with nokia you can only do groups)
Camera is a little bit better on v3
Internal screen on v3 blows away the 6230 in every regard

The v3 (for me) is worse in the following regards:
SEEMS fragile (but have yet to damage it)
no faceplates (i get tired of looking at same ole phone, although I did order vinyl covers for it today)
NO STANDARD HEADSET PORT (big negative, but the 6230 doesn't have one either)
No expandable memory (this isn't too big a deal for me though becuase I transfer the pics to my pc w/bluetooth and any mp3 ringers I have a chop to a smaller size since the phone never plays the full song when it rings).
Slower UI than 6230

Sorry if it was too much info, but I had an internal v3 vs 6230 struggle going on for quite some time.

I had the same v3 vs 6230 question. Thanks for the details.

I stopped using my silver razr. I am in the process of getting a 6230b, should receive it sometime next week.

I am also interested in a black razr. After owing a razr, every phone i've had seems bulky. I think im going to have the same problem with the 6230b. But i'd take nokias UI over motos anyday.

The low earpiece volume is pretty easy to fix too (that was my main prob with the v3). I hadn't planned on doing any seem editing, but went to Radio Shack a couple of hours ago and picked up this: http://tinyurl.com/d8fez , downloaded and installed the drivers and programs and now have "nokia volume" with v3 call clarity. I wish I had done this sooner .

The first thing I did after getting the V3 was seem editing it, to increase earpiece volume, so I dont remember it being an issue. I know alot of people complain about it, but its very easy to fix.

I thought this was already settled...

Overall...

Nokia 6230b > V3

Although, the V3 has a bigger screen, and better sound clarity.

Wirelessly posted (nokia 6230 + HP RX3115: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))

I poll for 6230
it has a lot of advantage over RAZR
fast modem (class 10 EDGE)
accessory support (DKU-2 cable, BL-5C battery, ALL nokia chargers)
free sync software from nokia support (bt is OK)

6230b wins hands down in my book.

sorry, but i agreed on everything you said except that... the motorola cameras are worse than terrible- the 6230 has probably the best vga camera of any camera phone on the market - the night mode is better than using a flashlight and it takes MUCH better pictures than the v3

V3 is overpriced...and you have to put up with the Moto UI...

Yep...I'm carrying a Nokia 6230 .

6230b > v3,

but

if you talk on a bluetooth headset a lot i recommend v3 + hs850 combination.
solution: get both and use v3 for outtings during the night.

why is that? the connection time is like 4-8 seconds on a moto when opening the flip on the hs850. However, on the nokia, it is less than 2 seconds

I got a V3 for free yesterday from a retailer (new subscriber though).

why is it necessary to do so much modding to get Moto phones where one needs them to be...e.g., the volume problem on Razr 3's...why does Moto not get it right when these phones are manufactured? No on should have to go to the trouble of modding a phone to bring it up to other phones that contain the things people expect in a phone...certainly volume is one...???????????

nokia 6230 blows away moto v3 and more cheaper for bang for buck

The RAZR V3 Makes the nokia 6230 look like a peice of ***. Something that would be floating around in the toilet bowl. You must be crazy to even compare the 2. Im not saying the features arent comparable. But they are two tottaly dif. types of phones...
