on steeles, westbound, near a construction area, where the lanes merge. This guy next to me tried to enter the lane i was in while i was stationary, but he was in a van and didn't have enough room, so he brushed my bumper. It has some pretty long scratches, not deep. It is my dad's car, and he does not know i took it, only my mom knows. I got his licence plate, but he ran away, hit'n'run. So should i contact police? Or is there a way to get his info? If u see any van wit license plate ACNY 463, please yell at him for me

Also, if i use those "lipstick" paints, will it cover up good? If it costs me less than 20 bux, i'll just let him go. But if not, i gotta get his info and ask him to pay. The guy just drove away with me honkin the horn and yellin at him to stop!!!

go to cdn tire and buy some polishing compound and see if you can buff it out.

Are they light scratches??? white coloured?? or did u go all the way through?

if there is some of his paint on your car ... use some paint thinner.. put some of it on a dry cloth.. and quickly rub off the paint off your car... just do it quickly rub a little if you have to get get it off, but dont do it too long... after its gone.. splash some water on where you just rubbed off ... and to cover scratches...

btw if you were repain the whole bumper for sure it will cost more than 20 bucks... but if you can get it out with what i just told u.. it will cost between 10-30 bucks roughly.. man when i use to work at a mall.. i get enough scratches... pissed me off... sigh...

well actually the scratch got to the black plastic underneath, so would i have to use something like a primer before i put paint into the scratch?

cuz i'm indian, and if my father finds out i took the car without askin him, even though i asked my mom, he prolly wont let me borrow it again. Plus the scratch. So if i could find a way to get the persons phone # from the license plate, i could talk to the ***. He'll have to pay, since it was hit n run.

i know how it is man, been there, done that. but seriously put down on a piece of paper ur options.

ur dad will find out none the less. its not just his paint on ur car anymore by the sounds of it....its ur paint gone. and plastic scratched.

and calling him wont do u any good. he will deny it.
call the cops.
and grow up. u took the car, and if its ur dad's car...and he rules over it...then well suck it up princess. sry but thats the rough end of the stick but face reality.

dammit i dont want such a huge fuss over a **** scratch, but i guess he'll notice it anyways. Unless something comes to me overnight, i'll just tell him tommorow. But i can't believe the nerve of some people, just hitting a car and running away...

if u have his plate, report him, hit and run is against the law in Ontario, he can be charged, so just get him to pay up.

I agree, contact the police, since his car has your paint on it, good evidence of the hit and run. Even if you don't get that person to pay for it, having the police handing him 7 demerit point for hit and run would be next best thing you can do. If police lay charges and he's convicted, at the very least, he'll have a hell of a time getting insurance and paying for it.

Great lesson for someone who hit and run your car. But of course, you will have to attend his trials and the whole process take a long time.

last month, I just got hit and it was hit n run too and it was pretty deep scratches on my bumper. Too bad I didn't have his license plate coz I've never been in this situation before, all I knew it was a 97-99 Camry LE. You're quite lucky since you got his license plate. If it's like that, then it's pretty easy to fix, it takes about an hour or two and cost about $25 with matching factory paint.

park it in the street or in a lot and say someone hit it while u were out of the car. the damage wont be repaird but at least u'll be off the hook, and then go with ur dad and do the touch up paint or re spray completly.
