Can I use 3G phones here in the US with cingular like Sharp 902 or SonyEricson Z800, or Motorola 1150 if so let me know.

Europe uses 900Mhz and 1800Mhz for GSM and 2100Mhz for UMTS/W-CDMA.

North America uses 850Mhz and 1900Mhz for GSM and will being using 1900Mhz for UMTS/W-CDMA.

Most European phones support 900Mhz, 1800Mhz and 1900Mhz for GSM and only 2100Mhz for UMTS/W-CDMA. So you might be able to get a GSM signal (and therefore be able to make calls and send texts), but UMTS/W-CDMA (3G) will be impossible. Sorry.

I think a simpler answer is yes, yes you can use both the Sharp 902 and the Ericsson Z800 in North America, assuming that they're unlocked.

That doesn't go for all 3G's, but for these it does.

Some phones that will work (provided they're unlocked) in the US:

From Japan:
V902SH (aka Sharp 902), V802SE (simialr to V800 except firmware and keypad), V702MO (aka Motorola C980), V702NK (aka Nokia 6630)

From Europe/Asia (outside Japan):
Sharp 902, Motorola A835, Motorola C975, Motorola A920, Motorola A925, Motorola E1000, Sony Ericsson V800, Sony Ericsson Z800, Nokia 6630, Nokia 6680, Siemens U15

There are a few more 3G phones that will be out in the following months....

Obviously you won't be able to use the 3G specific features, such as video telephony (video calling), but you can still use the the phone as they are dual mode UTMS and GSM.

I was in Ny in Feb and brought over a SE V800 adn Moto C975 and both worked fine on T-Mobile, I could even access T-Zones on the V800.

Note that if some of he 3G phones are made by a company called "3". Hutchinson like to lock down their phones, so you will only be able to sue them for calls and SMS only. You can't access WAP and internet based services. etc...

just remember that cingular is big on 850mhz, which most of the european phones do not support (unless they are quad band). You'll be missing out on half the network
