Anyone know any AIM programs for the Treo 650?

I tried AgileMessenger; it connected to my name but when I went to send myself an IM from my computer at home, nothing showed up on the screen. I don't think it works.

Any alternatives?

I've been using this: http://www.mantragroup.com/causerie.htm
Mantragroup - Causerie Messenger-Enterprise Mobile Instant Messenger

It works extremely well compared to other combination messenger programs I've used. This one has never crashed, very stable.

I've used IM+, Mundo Messenger and Agile Messenger. I find Agile Messenger too buggy for my taste. Made my treo reboot all the time. The best of the lot is IM+. I've heard great reviews of Verichat, but have never used it myself.

I've been using VeriChat for a month now and I love it. I have not had any issues with it at all.. a couple of "nice" features are missing, but I've been told by PDAapps (manufac of VeriChat) that they are incorporating said features into the next release of the software...

I wouldn't mind trying out Causserie (sp?), but since i'm happy with VeriChat and VeriChat is already paid for I havn't had any motivation to veer from the working path

I originally had IM+ but had so many problems with keeping it registered. Each time it refused to connect I had to email for an account reset. Support at IM+ could never give me a reason for the need for the reset........so......after the 3rd time with 2-4 day span (response time) between each reset I went looking for something reliable. I would suspect my experience was the exception and not the norm with this product.

Go with VeriChat, it's the best out there in my opinion.

Yeah, I find their support lacking. I had to wait a couple of weeks at one point, just to get the account reset. That was an exception, I think, cos usually they respond to emails very quickly.

Do all aim programs still have instant messages counted as text messages?

some give you the option. for example, on verichat, you can have it use either the wireless internet or text messages

I dont mind buying software, but I dont like annual subscriptions. Are any of these pay once or free?

I agree, I really don't mind paying. but most of them have a yearly sub, what's up with that.. and I have 3 phones.. and that adds a lot of cost to own the phone... Does Treo come with any messenger besides the SMS and MMS?
