im using tmobile, blackberry 7100t, i have set up my TCP, and i get these same errors when trying to connect with ramble, or black chat...

RAMBEL:
Invalid Connection
String:
Unable to open
connection.

BLACKCHAT:
Description:
Cannont CONNECT to
the IM Server

(Unable to open
connection.)

does anyone know what this means? or any way to fix it?

Either your APN has not been provisioned or you don't have the name+id+pw entered correctly.

Getting this right is a pain. Look at

http://www.blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=2185

as a place to start. Good luck. I worked on this for a while with Cingular

and it drove me crazy.

my whole problem is i have found some places where they say for tmobile that you leave the name and pw blank, others say use your phone number and logon info, and others say use same logon as http://www.t-mobile.com/bwc/ i have tried them all and none work... this is killling me... i need ot know what the specifics are for tmobile...

on my 7100t, ramble works fine with wap.voicestream.com/(blank)/(blank)

ok, so, my aunt has my same phone, and i tried downloading ramble, and it WORKED!!! not to mention how pissed off i was, i checked out the differences in our phones, i saw that in her service book, she had 2 extra entries than i did, i dont remember the names, but i KNOW thats what the problem is... how do i fix this?

Posted by: madrabbitt

call them up and ask for those two service book's by name?

7100T user,
go to Tools, Settings, TCP

enter wap.voicestream.com for the APN,
leave the username black and password blank.

then try again.....

name and password are blank, the apn is wap.voicestream.com and it still will not work, i get the unable to open connection error. the weird thing is, the arrows on the top right are going back and forth, meaning data is being transfered, but i dont unerstand why this wont work!! are there any other options that need to be changed?

Posted by: true_atlantis

as a trouble shooting strategy, i put my aunts sim card in my phone, to make sure it is not my phones hardware or software, and ramble worked. so, there must be something wrong with my account. what should i ask tmobile? the only thing that was different when i put her sim card in was the top menu item was "enterprise activation" what is that?

go to tools or options (depending on your theme)

go down to SRA ramble.

go down to the last two options. Make sure the network connection is set to "use device tcp"

Posted by: true_atlantis

yes, i had all the options set up correctly, but since i got a used phone, tmobile never associated my IMEI and PIN wiht my account... after i emailed them, it all started working... thanks for all the help
