What's everybody using to carry their SMT5600 in?

What's everybody using to carry their SMT5600 in? The phone came with a pretty decent horizontal pouch. However, I've been using Krussel cases for my last several phones and I really like the quality of the Krussel and I prefer to have the phone in a Krussel type of case where I don't have to take it in and out. Too bad Krussel doesn't make a case specific to the SMT5600. Any suggestions?

No that wasn't me. I'm on Rogers Wireless here in Toronto so AT&T Cellular & Cingular wouldn't pertain to me. Did you try calling your cell company's technical support? That's what I did with Rogers and they walked me through the settings to get my WAP to work. Good luck. Now, any suggestions on cases other than the horizontal pouch that I'm using?

The problem with the universal cases is that it just doesn't fit like a "glove". I'd like a "high" quality case that is form specific to the SMT5600.

have you tried searching for a body glove case

Posted by: mannyb

[QUOTE=faibs]have you tried searching for a body glove case[/QUOTEI'm not too fussy on the neopreme cases as it sometimes makes the whole unit bulky. I prefer good 'ole fashion leather.

Posted by: faibs

ive seen one on ebay, a good ol fashion leather one

hey btw, does this phone support transfering files via BT to another phone?

I use a Krussel to carry mine. It's a pouch, rather than a case; I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. The phone fits in it perfectly. My only beef with the Krussel is the clip for the belt does not hold well--it slides too easily.

Thanks Chuck. I had a relative in the states buy it from this eBay seller as I'll be down in the states in two weeks. Thanks again for the link.

The case that came with mine ripped out on one end and the phone kept slipping out. I went down to a Cingular store in town to see about some changes to my account and found a great little Body Glove case. It's similar to the original in that it holds the phone horizontally and has a magnetic clasp. About 1/2 of it is clear. Best part is that it was in the clearance bin for $1.00. I should have gotten both of them! Oh well. I've been using it for a few months and no complaints.

Hi. Ebay sells Krusell cases for the Audiovox SMT 5600 and I have found them quite nice for under $20. Here is a link to one of them.

Chuck Knight posted an eBay link above. So I ended getting the Krussel off of eBay for $19.99 + s/h. Pretty good price.

Personally I like the Martin Fields silicone jacket and the Krusell Verticalic one. I think the Krusell form to fit one isn't that great since it provides no protection if you drop it..

I use the silicon case when I am active and don't wear a belt loop since its a perfect fit and provides protection from dropping etc and wear the Krusell one when at work etc with a belt. It has many other clip options so just about anything would work and if you don't mind a snug fit the phone will even fit in with the silicone jacket on which is excellent protection.

I am also using the Martin Fields Silicone Jacket. It fits like a glove. Upside: protection from the occasional dropped phone. I've dropped mine once already and suffered no dings, dents or scratches and more importantly the guts stayed intact. Downside: Dust collector. The jacket is a magnet for dust and lint.

During my work hours, I am usually pretty dirty, so this offers great protection.

As other people have pointed out Krussel makes one which you can get off ebay (like I did). It fits really got, however I really didn't like the snaps and velco piece on the back. I wanted a case to protect the screen and didn't really want to use the clip option.

So I modified mine so that I could fit in my pocket and still protect the phone... Give it a more stealth look. Took me about 30 minutes using a xacto blade and some plyers.

Very true about the dust thing. I usually wash it in warm water once a month and it helps alot. I washed it about 3 times when I first got it and that helped also..

Here is a link to the Krusell case for the SMT5600, although you can't buy direct from them.

I have been using the Krusell case for about 5 months and I highly recommend it. If you are looking for a case to hook onto your belt, and you don't mind that it is oriented vertically then I can't imagine a better case. My case still looks as good as the day I got it too.

An added bonus is that it keeps a lot of dust away from the phone, and I have read that SMT5600's can be susceptable to getting dust behind the screen. So, the Krusell case acts as an extra barrier.

The only minor complaint is that I don't think they made the opening for the headset plug wide enough. This would cause my headset to slide out of the socket a little and I would loose my stereo. I ended up just using scissors to cut a little bit bigger hole, and now its fine.

If you have laid out a fair amount of money on the phone (or more often on the cell contract), I wouldn't recommend getting a cheap case. It just seems like putting cheap tires on an expensive car.

Thats a nice case but again it provides no protection from being dropped on the ground. I would at least put a silicon jacket on it and then that over it so if it does drop it will be okay..

After trying many of the cases, the Piel Frama are hard to beat from a quality standpoint-fit, finish, belt clip are all very well put together-I lost my MPx220 due to a poor-locking belt clip-with Piel Frama's metal button and the positive-locking belt clip, I don't fear losing this phone. Sure it's expensive-but so is your phone.

I've been using the Krussel case for 3 weeks now & so far it's been very good. No problems with the case what so ever.

That looks great! I never even thought of removing that part when I had a krusell case for my 3620!

I am using a Roots universal case I picked up at Radio Shack (now The Source). It is a horizontal leather case that fixes to your belt with 2 snaps. It is nice because the leather case is in 2 parts; the one closest to your belt which has the 2 snaps and the "outer" part that you put the phone in.

The 2 parts are connected together by horizontal stitching along the bottom and two magnets, one on either end at the top. The part that holds the phone also has a magnetic closure similar to the original Audiovox case.

If you insert your phone with the display pointing in towards your body, when a call comes in all you have to do to see who is calling is to pull the upper part of the case away from your body. The inside of the "outer" case has a plastic window so you can view the display without having to take it out of the case.

Once I see the "caller info" I just press answer button on my Plantronics M2500 headset and push my case closed.

I bought a case that was fitted specifically for the 5600. i ordered it from the http://store.yahoo.com/free-cellula...au56fileca.html.

http://www.factorydirectcellular.co...smt5600-lth.htm has pictures of the case in use. but the site has gotten poor reviews so i do not recommend ordering it from them.
