I just got my shiny new SX66. I've been trying to send text messages but it looks like about 75% of them never end up sending. They just save in the "Drafts" folder, and hang here, and it looks like they never even TRY to send. Is there something I'm missing?
Oh yes, and when I REPLY to a text, it generally works well. But when I create a new text, they usually don't send!

Are you getting good signal strength? (Normally you do not need very strong signal at all for messages to send)
Also, you may want to post this in the cingular forum too, since this is most likely a network/sim card issue and not a phone issue, though it may be, you never know.
I would call tech support, and persist with them, don't let them give you the old "we're having issues in that area" and if they do, go to a local corporate store, I wouldn't just live w/ it. If 611 and the local corp store say the same thing, then you may have to wait a little, but call them first.
Good luck.

That's the weird part...the signal is actually quite good.

Did you figure out your issue?

Yes.
After literally an hour on the phone with Cingular, I felt like I talked to everybody in the company. The first person had no idea that my phone even existed, much less how to troubleshoot it. The second person transferred me to data services. The data services guy transferred me to customer care.
We ended up finding out that after I switched phones, there was some kind of block on my account that wouldn't let me send text messages until I called an 866 number to "accept terms and conditions," which was done by ceremonially pressing the 1 key.
And, lo and behold, after accepting the terms and conditions to which I was already bound in the first place, I am now able to send text messages.
