Hey guys, I just had my 9500 for 3 weeks and it's hard to get freeware for this phone. I only have Agile messenger which works great! I was looking for some games, like chess. I saw one website, but it cost 11 dollars a game! steep!

I agree, Ive only had my 9300 since yesterday and I am usually a whizz at finding allsorts but there isnt much about, dodgy wize anyway.

S80 apps are indeed rare but this is probably due to the fact that a lot of S60 apps will also tend to work with the 9300 and 9500. The only problem might the screen size differences between S60 and S80 handsets.

hehe yeah its a pita, there are a few freeware apps out there look on www.my-symbian.com but dont post in their forums asking them why there is hardly no free software because they will you and be insulted that you are not supporting the drm-enabled S80 software industry. i think that site is run by nokia or symbian developers lol

S60 games working on 9500? thats kool i must try that when i get my 9500

Give it a try, imagine playing Doom on the 9500 .

i doubt the joystick works though. probably just 2 to move forward, 8 to move back what basically doesnt make any sense when the keys are arranged in a line.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Symbian OS; UIQ; 316) Opera 6.31 [en-US])

tried some java apps and had mixed results. the screen orientation could be an advantage for viewing, but not running apps

Guys, i'm not able to send any SMS from my Nokia 9500. I tried formating the phone but was only able to send a few text msgs, not the problem is back. I read somewhere that if I upgraded my frimware from 4.5.1 to a higher version, the problem will be sorted out for good. Anyone with the upgrade plse share

what has this to do with free software?

your phones a lemon, or you dont have the right service centre or something

Welcome Ben

For furture reference you might find it helpful to read the rules on off topic posts. No one is going to see your question in this topic. Please consider creating a new thread with a proper title.

You need to post in the Series 80 Forum which you'll find on the Main Index page.

thanks you guys. I've tried installing some s60 applications, but some of them has a big error when i tried to run them.
I guess I'll support the industry if I really need one of those software. I really do love the N9500. I just changed my faceplate to white last month

Hi there...The best thing to try is to browse the other Nokia Websites for the other parts of the world. For example, I was able to go to the UK site and download a great golf game http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,8764,74778,00.html#15
I then went to the Asian site and downloadd a great tool called World Mate. http://www.nokia-asia.com/nokia/0,,68188,00.html
There are many more programs to download, like an expense keeper, a desktop and today view of your calendar.

I happen to be running DOOM on 9500 with the joystick (no numbers thank you) Used to do the same on 9210i before I upgraded. I do have a bunch of other 9210 apps/games that do work on 9500 but I had mixed results overall running 92xx apps on 9500. Mostly because the System directory structure changes I guess. I can install fine but run time I get error "Object not found" for the nonworking apps from 92xx.

As far as S60 apps, I get a outright platform not supported error during install or that same object not found.

You may want to check SEVEN - their beta is free - push email (and calendar sync) for work and private accounts. I heard they are currently looking for S80 beta users - http://www.seven.com/products/consu...ta_program.html.
