Cingular still getting the 9300??

SO I had an incredibly old (like, 60-70) woman the other day ask me if Cingular had the 9300 yet. She looked surprised that I knew what it was, and I told her I was impressed that she knew what it was. She goes, "well, I like to keep up with the new cell phones, they never cease to amaze me" Hah! my kinda grandma! Anyways, I told her I hadn't heard anything, but that I thought the rumor was the Cingular was going to carry it, to just keep watching. Is this thing still coming out (regardless of the fact that it's grossly outdated already, unless it pops up tomorrow)??

Who needs it by the end of the year? By that time Trio 700 and Sony 9900 will be out (or something like this) and Nokia 9300 will be just an old news.

I don't think it will be old news with any US operator.

Am I dense or do people here not understand that mobiles released in Europe don't just "show up" in the US immediately.... ????

Wait a minute....wait a minute! I thought the 9300 only had the 900/1800/1900 frequencies.....when did/are they put in the 850mhz? The ones I see unlocked don't have the 850. Anyone care to elaborate on this?

When Nokia first announced about Nokia 9300 & 9500 in their press release they stated that GSM 850 version will be available in Americas in Q1 2005.

What really pisses me off is that it is almost Q3 and not a single word from @#$@Q#$%@!#$%! NOKIA explaining it to their customer ether one way or another.
Releasing phone without GSM 850 markets it useless for several millions GSM users in USA because there is not GSM other then 850 in many areas in US.
For others who happen to travel a lot this will be a problem too.

I just do not understand why Nokia just cannot come clean and tell that no we have change our minds and there will no be GSM 850 version as we promised before. In this case I would simply move on to something else or if they still want to release GSM 850 version they could just tell this too, or they will loose their customers just by playing this STUPID GAMES!!!

I couldn't agree with you more. Personally i think that they should make ALL US phones with the 850Mhz frequency. But Nokia isn't the only one. Motorola is good in doing that too

Nokia PR rep told me they are shooting for September.

And yes, the North American will be tri-band 850/1800/1900 (right from my reviewer's notes)

My review just posted here.

SEPTEMBER? Is it September of 2006 or 2008? I have heard this PR BS from nokia before.
Q1 2005, Q2, June 1st. TV adds are on right now ....

I do not believe a word of this anymore!
