So here is my problem: I have a family ATT plan and do not want to change to a Cingular plan. However I want the nokia 6230 because my T616 recently died. My mom gets excellent deals on new phones and can get a brand new 6230 for me, but while talking to her rep they told her my sim card would not work in the newer cingular phones. When she mentioned she wanted to buy it from them unlocked he said, "we cant provide you with the unlocking code for the former ATT system. Putting a sim card from the old ATT sim card into the cingular system would be like putting a toyota engine into a corvette.... cingular is more functional and expanded." Is there any truth to this or can i just buy and and get it unlocked?

hah
you can definately just get it unlocked and use it
now as for the discount on the 6230 i would assume you could use it to buy the phone outright then unlock it or just simply buy it off ebay unlocked
but that whole corvette thing...sounds like a loaf of turd to me

I figured that was all BS. Thanks for the info, the discount is way better than i can get it for on ebay.

I would have been like..."What the hell are you talking about?! Do YOU even understand what you just said?"

Any sim card will work on any unlocked GSM phone...
