All-In-One Phone...Is it out there?!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

well this is more of a curiosity on my part. First off, my main thing with a phone is RF. I'm just curious if there is a true all-in-one phone. So here are the guidelines:

Decent RF - yes, it actually has to work well as a phone!
Decent Camera
Plays MP3s - rather that be internal or external memory
Wi-fi - browses websites decently, and not just WAP pages
FM Radio - i know this will be a toughy
Email
Open certain types of documents like word, excell, powerpoint, acrobat...

So, is there something like this out there? Let's just disregard price in this too. And if there is something close, list it there and anything you know about the product, including pics and/or a link to more info!

Have fun!

Some of the N series Nokia might meet those requirements. Not sure tho....

Posted by: Chainblade

you're right the Nokia N91 might just have all that. Can't wait to hear some more about that device.

Coming soon to a cell phone store near you - bring lots of $$$$!!

Posted by: Donkey

expect to pay hefy for it. if you have the dough, probably worth it.

I believe the Nokia 9500 has all of that, though I'm not sure bout Wi-Fi, and I'm pretty sure there's not an 850 version planned. Nor do I know about the FM radio, but I'm sure it has everything else.

well i kind of look at it this way. I want an mp3 player with fm radio. i want a phone. I want some pda functions. i want to browse the web on the go. i want a camera. I want email. Now I could buy all these things separately but i will have like 5 different devices and it will cost a pretty penny for all of them total. OR i can get an all-in-one device that does it all. Sure it costs a lot for the one device but it will probably be cheaper then all of the 5 devices above. Now all I can hope is that it will still be classic Nokia and be of high quality and high RF...because if it doesn't, all the bells and whistles mean NOTHING.

Try the 6230 and a PDA with bluetooth and wifi. The PDA you can get for as cheap as $318 @ Sam's Club (I know cuase I'm looking at one) and the 6230 for around $250, or a 6230i (depending on if you need 850) for $300ish. That's cheaper than a 9500 and you'd still have two devices, but the good thing is you could use the phone for most things, and then go to the PDA for web/email/PDA.

yeah the only problem is that with a just a pda with wi-fi, there has to be wi-fi around, which it isn't always. That's what is nice about having a pda/phone because if wi-fi isn't around, i can use EDGE. but yeah, i'm still trying to decide. what cell phone providers need to make is little pda cards that you can add on to get EDGE on your pda. they have pc cards for laptops, why not pdas?!

That's why I suggested the 6230, and a PDA with Bluetooth. Tether to your 6230, it's class 10 EDGE, problem solved. It's still 2 devices, but that's less than the 5 you were worried about earlier.

PDA2K. quad, wifi, bluetooth, keyboard. Handles all the file types. And, wait for it, get a FM SD card. It's big, and the FM card looks like a chimney, but its all there

ah yes, i forgot about tethering it. I'm thinking of verizon where you can't do that. Gotta love cingular for not crippling everything like VZW!

and this pda2k...when does it come out? Is it good as a phone too? that's my main thing, if it's a great phone, i'll take an an all in one. but if it's not, i'll take the route of getting a 6230 phone and a separate pda.

Yep, no camera of the cingular version. That's why I specified the PDA2K. Go to www.clubimate.com/t-details_pda2k.aspx

Go to a cingular store to check out the siemens, so you know if you like the phone. Then order a PDA2K online.

The Treo 650 meets all your needs, it doesn't have wifi but the browser goes far beyond just wap. I love mine it's a great overall device, def. an all-in-one device.

ha i'll never buy a treo. I work Verizon wireless support and most of my calls are for treo's that are freezing, resetting, hard resetting, losing signal, dropping calls, screen breaking, etc...

Plus Other than all that, they are fine phones! I'd rather have a windows mobile device anyways. the pda2k sounds amazing though. but i think i still like the idea of having a nokia cell phone and then a separate pda, like the dell axim x50v. it's cheaper than just getting the pda2k and that way i get a great phone and a great pda, as well as the ability to talk on my phone AND use my pda at the same time.
