it's at a real good price. but it has some minor scratches and it comes with NO software, manuals or cables. not even the box. just the phone, the battery and charger. i have no problem with that but i know i need the software to make ringtones and video ringtones. where can i find the software and cables to make them if i do decide to buy it because eBay doesn't have any for sale. any plce where i can download the software and manual?

if so then i'm buying.

price is good but no manual software, cables...thats not a good deal unless it has all those items. they got new ones on ebay with manuals ect for around $400. so if you buy this one you're gonna end up paying more to buy the cables ect and this is a used phone at that.

dont get it...

thanks for the advice. i'll pass on this...

yeah i don't think there's a lot of NEC cables floating around hofo or pacific mall either. might not be worth the hassle mate

just FYI, i don't think that price is that bad, its a fair shake

BUT, just to let you know.. the cables for the NEC525/515/535 are ALL OVER EBAY, and those work perfect.

same with the cables for the SHARP GX32. The software you need for the n840 memory editor is on the NEChk website and the 3gp converter is posted in my other thread.. i think you would be good to go.

oh i had no idea...so what's stopping you then from buying it mate? lol

Posted by: af2w131f

the phone is used, no box no manuls, no cables. only a charger. its $300 with shipping. a used product with no manuals ect loses more than 20% of its new price. $230 with shipping would be a fair price.

pm the seller $230 and see if he bites, or if you can hammer out a deal privately.

i tried but he backed out and sold it to someone who was willing to buy it for his original price.

oh well. i decided to order a Sharp TM200 brand new instead from importgsm.com (i was torn apart between these two phones). they both are pretty much the same to me so i went with the phone that had the much better design (imo). now i'm just waiting for my phone to arrive.

do you guys think it was a good idea to go with the Sharp instead? why or why not?

if the TM200 is anything like the GX32, you would be much more satisfied with the n840.

but, then again, i hope its not like the gx32.. all sharp phones, even tho they are great handsets, have weird firmware oddities that make doing simple things (such as adding a telephone number to an existing contact) so arse-backwards.

you're right. i'm trying to get an NEC N840 now. i'm either selling my tm200 or trading it (peep the sig).

plus, my contract with T-Mobile ends 7/21/05 (which is less than 3 weeks from now) and i've decided to switch to Cingular (and the N840 is quadband which helps because i'm going to need the 850mhz) for the much better coverage.

peep the sig if you know anyone willing to trade their N840 of someone willing to buy the TM200.

I just bought one of the NEC N840's from that same guy, apparently he has a couple. My previous phone was a Sharp GX32, and I'm happy with my purchase.

Both phones are great. As everyone knows, the Sharp takes better indoor pics, but the NEC takes great outdoor pics by far. The screen on the NEC is nowhere near as crisp and vibrant, but it's still a good screen.

Overall, I'm very pleased. The guy I bought it from was very kind and helpful, and shipping took THREE days to get here (from Hong Kong).

Included was just the phone, battery and charger. There happened to be a 32MB mini SD inside which I didn't know about, but I went out and bought a 128MB one anyway.

The phone's condition was excellent. One minor scuff on one of the corners, but otherwise it looks brand new, I was very impressed. The auction said "minor scratches" but he should have put "minor minor minor scratches."

I didn't pay the price he listed.. which was at $369USD. I e-mailed him and made an offer of $345USD, but he said $355USD was the lowest he could sell it for, so I bought it for that much (plus $30US shipping). It was shipped on Monday (from Hong Kong), and arrived here (Winnipeg, Canada) yesterday, which was Thursday. Three days isn't bad at all.

I already have a data cable on the way, it only cost me $10CDN, and I doubt I'm ever going to use the headset, so I didn't care that it doesn't have that. I already downloaded a ton of games for it too.

You may want to ask conditions about his other ones though. Just because mine was in excellent condition, doesn't mean they're all perfect. You might want to send him an e-mail ahead of time just to be safe.

For one, I don't understand what you're trying to say by "its an all that kind of phone". Second, I think it looks really nice, and you don't need to feel sorry for me.

you're a newb. so i know you are only going by how the phone looks.

i know for a fact you have no idea of its features and what it does. go buy a RAZR. lol

and IMO, the phone doesn't look that bad at all.

I'll borrow my friend's digital camera when I get a chance and upload some pics of my phone, so you have an idea of it's condition.

I made a menu theme for mine already, and I think it's pretty neat, so I'll upload that too, when I get home (at work now).
