Will the v551 be compatible with cingular's PTT (if its ever rolled out)? I read on phonescoop that the v551 has PTT capabilities, is this true???

not the current v551's that are out now

rumor is that a v557 (i think?) will have the PTT capability when it is rolled out

the motorola v5xx will not work on cingulars ptt as it uses ptt over gprs, cingulars ptt service will be over Kodiak

Yea the 557 will come out and will support PTT over GPRS, but once Kodiak is launched it will be just a newer looking 551 with out of date PTT capabilities.

understand why cingular is coming out with ptt, but i personally hate that crap.

i just love when somebody with a nextel has to let the whole mall/room/elevator/sporting event know that they have a nextel push to talk walkie talkie
*beep beep* ___________ (insert very loud speaker volume conversation that should probably be a private call)

i just love when a 12 yr old has a nextel and the conversation goes similar to this:

*BEEP BEEP* "Yooo"
*BEEP BEEP* "Yoooooo"
*BEEP BEEP* "what are you doing?"
*BEEP BEEP* "nothing, what are you doing?"
*BEEP BEEP* "not much, what are u doing tonight?"
*BEEP BEEP* "nothing, what are you doing tonight?"
*BEEP BEEP* "alright"

......you can be creative and finish that conversation...

I agree 100%. PTT should be left to those losers over at nextel. I wish Cingular would concentrate more on 3G, and it's features just as video calling. With my fiance 3 hours away it would be nice to see her when we talk.

Trust me, 3G is number 1 priority right now. Otherwise, PTT would've been out long ago.

Kodiak, ugh, guess i'm going to keep Nextel.

And don't even get me started on PTT Etiquette, because very few people have it.

Direct Connect is great, you can use speakerphone so when your driving or in your house u can throw it on and make your life easier.

A few features every iDEN phone has been equipped with that I like is the side volume control buttons, and the speaker button which can enable private mode, BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS OR NEEDS TO HEAR YOUR **** CONVERSATION!!!!!
