I reside in Houston, Texas, and I currently have the Nokia 6230 that operates on the bands: 800, 1800, and 1900.
I would like to get a Nokia 3600 or 3620
Both phones operate in the 800 and 1900 band.
I went to Wirelessadvisor.com and typed in my zipcode. For my area it shows that Cingular Wireless operates in the 800 and 1900 bands only. I'm not sure how accurate this is, but can I expect to get the same coverage?
Thanks.

You will not loose any coverage. Houston only has the 800 and 1900 bands.

Short answer: no, you will not lose coverage.
Longer answer: as long as your phone supports the 850Mhz and 1900Mhz band, your coverage will not be compromised. Cingular and every other cellphone service providers in North America use only the 850Mhz and/or 1900Mhz band, no matter the technology (iDEN, CDMA, GSM, TDMA, or Analog). A tri-band or a quad-band phone isn't any better coverage-wise than a dual band phone, because the other two bands (900Mhz and 1800Mhz) are for international use only, but mainly for use in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
P.S.: I am not sure why you want to get a different phone, but if those two (i.e., the Nokia 3600 and 3620) are your only choices, get the Nokia 3620. It has the better screen and keypad.

Just got off the phone with a former ATT wireless support tech, now with Cingular.
He told me GAIT is not supported in California , only back east in some places.
Question? Is this true.
Does anyone know if I reverse the CELL BARR accepted to REVERSE or DISCARD, will this phone work on GSM and digital? So far, reception is not terrific in areas it should be, but it works on some country roads where my TDMA phone works (but Verizon CDMA doesnt!)
If yes, does anyone know how to change the field test screen to read CELL BARR reverse/discard?
Thanks
