Does NEC use its own proprietary headphone plug or does it use a 2.5mm or 3.5mm jack? Thanks

you cannot plug a set of headphones directly into the phone itself.

you have to use the headset cable, it terminates at a microphone with a button on it.

this mic has a jack for a standard walkman headphone.

pressing this button while playing mp3's will stop the mp3, holding it down will skip to the next song.

Thanks for the reply. So exactly what kind of jack is there on the phone? Is it maybe a smaller headphone jack like 2.5mm or maybe I can buy some kind of adapter? Or is it something NEC has made only to fit their own products like Nokia?

the jack is like this:

behind the rubber cover there is a horozontal plug that has about 8-10 contacts on it. You won't be able to find anything like it outside of japan, but i think in japan, quite a few phones use the same style jack, anything by NEC, as well as i think one by Sony Erricson.
