I have a v400 and I'm wanting to buy a new phone. I have read something about the new UMTS handsets are coming out around the end of the year. What are these phones going to have that the phones that are out right now don't have? Does anyone know when Cingular is going to have a flip phone with a 1.3+ mp camera in it?

the moto mpx220 had it but i think that was discotinued
they aren't hard to find though

SE S710A has 1.3

the samsung p777 is a megapixel camera. it's not a "flip" but it's a very nice slider phone.

mpx220 wasn't a MP camera.

In a flip there's nothing that Cingular offers now or in the near future

Actually...the Mpx220 has a 1.3 megapixel camera. You should know that IHAP!

You got me. I guess that since it sucks so hard I lumped it into the same grouping as the rest of the poor cameras. On paper stats don't tell the whole story (as anyone who's used this lump knows)

well actually the camera is 1.23 MP but who is counting especially from such a crappy phone....wait I am still using said crappy phone ....DOH!

but even for 1.23MP the pictures stink unless you have perfect light.

Motorola phones have the worst picture quality.

The real question is, why would anyone buy a phone for the camera feature?

I mean sure the s710 is nice and the pics are decent but I still wouldn't print them up.

While I agree with you in principle, the fact is that some of us are gadget whores and make purchases based on "techo lust," so buying a phone for it's camera feature is quite a logical decision for some people.
