i just ordered the Samsung X427M but have been reading about some people that have a problem where the caller id of this phone displays the wrong number of the incoming call, how many people actually have this problem?

Happened to me once.

My mother in-law called (memory location 6 or 7), and the Caller ID popped up as local law enforcement (memory #61). I have both numbers programmed in the SIM.

Yeah you can imagine my surprise.

We have just plain x427 phones (pre-"m") -- never had a problem like you describe.

Oh yes I forgot to add, it was on an x427m.

I've used this particular handset for a few months now. Maybe 3-4 months tops. And it only happened once.

We have had some of the speed dial settings (you know, press and hold #2 to call the wife, etc.) convert to strange characters.

The display will say Mom & Dadöôóõóòðï instead of Mom & Dad. Then the phone locks up and I have to rip the battery out and replace it to "reset" it. Doesn't happen often..

Never had the problem. I love my X427m, its been flawless so far! Hope you like your new phone as much as I like mine. Once Cingular got the blue to orange network mess switched over for me, the phone's performance has been excellent.

Since December. It was a replacement for the horrid Motorola V220 which broke down before it was even a month old.The Samsung doesnt have a camera, but is nicer in every other way, than the Moto. I love its bright, large screen (for a flip phone) especially.
