I have a Fortuna Clip-on bluetooth GPS. It works well with MS pocket streets. However, I cannot get it to work with Mapopolis. So, please provide the following information if you have Mapopolis working with your Bluetooth GPS unit.

-- Make/Model of blueooth GPS unit?

-- Comm port #?

-- Baud rate?

Thanks, Sabesh.

I believe this requires a registry edit. you'd have to search, I remember something about it around the beginning of the year. Omega posted in another thread that 3.46 asian ROM may solve that problem.

If you have the 3.45 or 3.46 ROM you can set the BT Com port without a registry edit.

I tried the Reg-hack with no success:

I'll try changing the ROM version now.

OK, I d/l'ed Asian ROM 3.46 and unbranded it. I set Bluetooth Comm port 6 as an outgoing port and configured accordingly in Mapopolis. It works perfectly now. Thanks for your help.

Did you try to BT ActiveSync and then try to connect to your BT GPS from Mapopolis? is that working?
For me its not because as soon as I do a BT ActiveSync, for some reason even though I set my default serial BT port to COM4 (from registery) and set an outgoing COM6 for my BT GPS, whenever I try to do a BT Activesync it tries to go to COM6 and since its reserved for BT GPS it gives me an "Error 635" and I HAVE to remove the COM6 port to do ActiveSync.

After that I can not add COM6 again for my BT GPS.

This is so frustrating I don't know how to get around it.... had asked it several times on here and on GPSPassion.com...... no answer at all, looks like no one knows how to fix it

OK ! I asked the same question in another tread. I was also using COM6 with registry hacks with my bluetooth GPS. After upgrading the ROM to 3.45 (or 3.46) I can't use COM6 for the GPS and Sync to my computer through bluetooth.

After playing around, I found the solution. First make sure to delete all the extra values except IsBthVCOMActive and IsBthVCOMSetup keys in HKEY_CU->ControlPanel->Bluetooth and also make sure that values for sBthVCOMActive and IsBthVCOMSetup are "0". Now, you will be able to set outgoing Bleutooth port other than COM6. Go to Settings->Bleutooth COM Ports (under Menu)->New Outgoing Port
Select your GPS and set COM1. Do the same thing for your PC and select COM0. Now you can Blue-sync and GPS-Navigate at the same time.

Enjoy !

Thanks for the reply !!!
That is what I did:
I removed all BT pairing, then I paired only BT GPS and set COM1 as outgoing port, after that I started mapopolis, and start GPS, it can see that.....
Then I stop GPS from Mapopolis, and start it again... it again can see my GPS.
Then .... I stop GPS both from Mapopolis and from BT GPS device ( press the power button for few seconds to turn it off) , this time when I restarted the BT GPS (by pressing power button) and tried to go to Mapopolis and start GPS from there I got this message :
"GPS Port (COM1: ) is not available. If this problem continues, you need to soft-reset your device".

Are you also getting this?

I haven't tried that but I don't have any problem using GPS and Bluetooth AS.

If you power off your BT GPS and turn it on again (by pressing power button) are you still able to get it?

For me looks like the COM port become unavailable once I power off my BT GPS

OK..... Finally !!!!!
After several several hours of debugging and playing around with Registry settings I am now able to get Mapopolis going like a charm with my MPX220 not only that I can BT GPS and Activesync at the "Same Time !!!!" isn't that sounds fun ... OK enough talk, here is how I did it :

1- Install asian ROM 3.45/3.46 on your MPX220 so that you can get COM port setup option under Bluetooth settings.
2- Delete all the pairings available in your phone.
3- go to Registry HKCU/ControlPanel/Bluetooth/ and delete all the keys except "IsBthVCOMActive" and "IsBthVCOMSetup" and set their values to be "0" each. ( This will allow you to setup morethan 1 COM ports as mentioned by Biek earlier)
4- Now pair your PC and BT GPS and assign outgoing COM ports to them by going to Start->Settings->Bluetooth->Menu->ComPrts(I assigned 0 to BT GPS and 1 to PC)
********** THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ********************

This is what I overlooked for last 2 days and thats why I couldn't achieved it...... uncheck "Secure Connection" when you assign COM ports.... Don't ask me why but without that you cannot do tha.

5- Thats it, now you can start Mapopolis start GPS , locate POsition etc, then close your GPS restart it, do all the possible combinations and it will see the GPS, no more COM port not available errors..... and best of all you can even sync with your PC via BT at the same time

Oh yeah sure... its ok for me ,
One thing which is missing though is when I try to connect to 2 PCs (Work and Home not at the same time) via BT Activesync, I have to re-pair every time, is that normal with everybody?

Posted by: Omega2008

I am not sure about that. I haven't tried to activesync with two different computers using the same connection method. I use BT sync at home and USB sync at the university.

Cheers,

There is no BT SerialPortSetup under Accessories in ROM 3.45 right?

Posted by: Omega2008

You are correct, however you can accomplish the same thing by going to Start, Settings, Bluetooth, Menu, COM Ports.
