Treo 650 Internal clock off..........

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm constantly having to change my Treo internal clock - everyday. It goes "slow". I havent changed it in two days and it is currently almost 1 hour off. Has anyone else had this issue?

FYI:
Treo 650 Factory Unlocked GSM. Installed programs in addition to stock:
Bobs alarm (it was going slow even before I installed this), Datebook5, Quick IM, Ptunes,Chattermail(awesome - except for a couple resets), TCMP, TreoGuard(disabled), TealMovie.

Firmware 1.38
Software Treo650-1.13-ROW
(The clock problem was there before I upgraded the firmware and is still a problem)

Peace.

Why don't you go to Perference and set up your treo to "Enable Local Network Time"? Input your local City prior to check that option. I have read some threads about NOT checking this box as it would "Yada Yada........" I always check that option and it seems to cause no problem.

yah thats the reason I haven't tried that earlier - I will try it though and see if it helps.

I have the same problem. If I use "enable network time", the time of my emails is posted based on Toronto time and I am in Vancouver, so that does not help either.

I downloaded a programme called Worldmate by mobimate;

http://www.mobimate.com/index.shtml

Everytime I sync my Treo, this programe automatically syncs the Treo's internal clock to the Atomic Clock. Works well.

Yup, same thing just happened to me. Whats the deal with the Treo 650 - is keeping a digital clock accurate that difficult

Thanks for the suggestion - I dont want to download any program to fix a basic thing like the time kept accurately on the Treo. Don't get me wrong I love this machine - but accurate time keeping.......pleeeeease......

This is what I did.
Go to the World Clock.
Click Date and Time.
Uncheck Enable Locale Network Time.
Select your location.
Input correct time.
Now Check Enable Locale Network Time.
That should do it.
I also use Worldmate Pro and once in awhile I would click on the Atomic Time Sync. They are seldom off.
It would only mess up if I cross time zones and did not adjest the Worldmate Pro. The location on Worldmate Pro need to match the World Clock to get everything working in Sync.
The time is usually correct

'

I have Worldmate Standard Edition. I enabled "Update Palm Time (Atomic Time Sync)". Once checked, the WorldMate Standard Conduit will synchronize your Palm's clock with Atomic time over the Internet

I have developed an application called ProfileCare that among other things will keep your Treo's clock current by sync'ing the Treo's clock with NTP servers on the web. This is a great addition to the "Enable Local Network Time' feature since this feature will only run when the Phone's radio is powering up. Does not take care of time loss during the periods of time you are not power cycling your phone's radio. ProfileCare will set the time once each day. You can even specify a time delta. The delta tells PC not to correct the time if the difference is less than the delta.

ProfileCare is also the best in class profile application available for the Treo today!

Its not the Treo's fault, its the wireless provider. Just disable the "Enable Local Network Time" in your preferences since you will be subjigated to whatever clock their central noc will run. This ways the phoen runs off the system clock, its not a accurate as the atomic clock naturally but will give your the right time.

I only enabled the clock becuase it was suggested - the Treo was system clock was losing time while I did NOT have the "Enable Local Network time" enabled. (see my "thread starter" post.
Thanks for the suggestion anyway..

I have the same issue as reported by others in this thread:
When I deselect "Enable Network Time" in the World Clock preferences dialog, and then input my timezone and correct time, the device calculates the time in other time zones correctly.
However, when I select "Enable Network Time" the device still reports the correct time for my time zone, BUT the time calculated and displayed for other timezones is off by +1 hour. This happens even when I select Toronto (my timezone) in one of the two lower boxes on the World Clock main page (the one with the picture of the world and the sun path on it).
It's unerving to see the Network time state 6:55pm and and then beneath it Toronto time as 7:55 pm, when you are in the Toronto timezone.

What I've done:
-setting the timezone correctly and then activated "Enable Network Time", still causes the same problem.
-hotsynced my device and then done a hard reset, which deletes everything and loads the ROM into the device withou upgrades or anything.

Possibilities:
1.The world clock application has a bug which reports the timezone incorrectly
2. My telephone network provider reports the correct time but the incorrect timezone to my device.

Todo:
1. Zero reset to obliterate all user information on the device and see it if helps.
2. Get TelusMobility to test this problem in my area, confirming or denying a firmware problem with my particular handset.

I have a similar timing problem with my T650 whether Enable Local Network Time is checked or not. It consistently loses 130 - 133 seconds every day or two. I use WorldMate to sync it with atomic time and it always corrects in this range...very odd.
