emailing mp3's

Today I visited a verizon store and asked about how best to get mp3's on my vx8000. He told me to just e-mail them via number@vtext.com and the phone would recognize and download it. I cut down the file to 64kbps and a fairly small file size but no dice, am I doing it wrong or is it not even possible? Thanks in advance for any help.

It needs to be yourphonenumber@vzwpix.com - sent as a pic message for $.25 if you don't have a pix plan.

I also tried that address and I received the message but when I tried to download it I was given the error "message not found on MMSC" I don't think I am doing anything wrong though...

I don't know then but it's possible because I email the song clips from walmart.com to my phone to use as ringtones.

I sent myself a 30 second MP3 to mynumber@vzwpix.com and it went through ok. Your MP3 file is converted to a QCELP file and then sent to your phone.

okay I have it kind of working now...I have two questions now though. First, what are the ideal settings (kbps, bit rate, etc) for the songs because I know it has stereo speakers. I thought 60 kbps was the max it could play but it sounds terrible. Also, how do I get it to save these into my tunes folder rather than the ringtones folder. I ask because tunes has a great deal more storage than the ringtone folder. Thanks for the replies.

file has to be under 350kb, whatever setting u use to get it under that works

also other than having it below 350 you can change the .mp3 to .mid and your phone will read it directly.

I make my own ring tones with Nero's Wave Editor and they don't have to be under 350 kbs. I sometimes use 96 kbps compression for a better sound but don't forget to change the file extension to .mid. They will still play if the're mp3s but this is somtimes buggy. You do have to have them under 30 seconds because anything over this goes straight to voicemail.
What you can do which is cool is to add an entire song on there, compressed of course and use it as you alarm ringer. All this I do using QPST of course.

The first thing you'll have to do is to buy a data and some software. I recomend QPST as your hack source. As far as cable and software, well you're on your own because there are so many to choose from. I use Handset Manager 9.0 from Mobile action where you can find here:http://global.mobileaction.com/. There are much cheaper ones out there but this works for me.

Next get QPST here: http://detn8r.pluslite.com/vx7k/dload.html.

Read DERELEKT'S tutorial here:http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...4&page=29&pp=15 You'll save a lot of money and time but most importantly...money.

You have been able to email ringers to phone with file size larger than 350 Kbs? Let me what the biggest u have gotten to email through.
