SE K750i configuration WAP/MMS etc..

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: quattro2

I just got a new SE K750i and I need to configure for T-Zones, etc. I went to the T-Mobile site that sends the config to your phone, and the k750 is not a choice of equipment. What should I substitiute instead of the k750 to get the correct info sent to me.

Thanks

I need to know this too!

Go to the Sony Ericsson website, global support, and have it send you settings for WAP & MMS. Don't forget to pick t-zones GPRS as your internet service in internet settings & java settings.

Posted by: xLilxBuddha

^^^ I did that, tried like a thousand times I swaer but they never send it too me :-(:-(

Posted by: REDPIERRE

hi the K750 is now supported @ the t-mobile site used it today

Posted by: xLilxBuddha

^^ can you give me the link, i cant find the k750i on the t-mobile

Posted by: tritone900

I'd be interested in knowing too. I'm planning on getting a k750i to use with t-mobile. Also, can anyone comment on call quality on the t-mobile network using the k750i? Does t-mobile use the 1900mhz band? Do I need to worry about the fact that the k750i does not support 850mhz? (maybe this is only a problem if you try to use it with Cingular...) Thanks!

BUMP (msg limit)

Posted by: nemik

i sent over the k700i or s710a settings and worked fine for me. they're just push messages, not specific to each model...

Posted by: johnhall

1. Where is the link to send over the settings.

2. Also, I talked to a customer service rep and they didn't seem to know this. With TZones if you send and recieve email does that count as a "message" (charged .05c)?

Posted by: thedrod

go to the site but choose the SE K700 ....the settings will work.

Posted by: solo118

can the wap/gprs get unlocked somehow so we dont have to pay for tzones?

Posted by: totally badical

i'm in san diego and i can't get my mms or wap working.

i've tried:
having k750i settings sent from s/e
having k700i settings sent from s/e
entering settings as listed on various threads here and at esato

i haven't tried:
?

at this point i think i'll need fairly specific directions

Anyone set up WAP / MMS / Internet setup with Cingular? Can you please help me do the same?

Posted by: thedrod

All I did was go to the sony ericsson website http://www.sonyericsson.com

Then go to support

Click on Americas

Phone setup

Sony Ericsson k700i, yes you read that correctly k700i

and have them send you the settings for that phone.

It worked for me...and I have cingular.

Posted by: cheungsta

WOOT!! Thanks thedrod!!! u rock

Oh, and incase any other cingular peepz try this...even if you were a formerly AT&T customer, just click on regular cingular...it won't work if you click on cingular (formerly AT&T)

EDIT: argh...so now I have the configuration set up, and I added MMS service through Cingular, but when my friend tries to send me a picture message, it still doesnt' show up...any clue how to fix this?
(note: I did read the sticky and tried the link there...still not working...)

Posted by: thedrod

Make sure you add both MMS and WAP to your phone from the SE website. It works perfectly for me.

Did you add both or just MMS?

Posted by: cheungsta

yeah, i added both the WAP and the MMS, and I received both configurations...I called Cingular again, and they said that it can take up to 24 hours to have it take effect...(since I just added MMS service to my account)...I'll try it again tomorrow and see what happens...

Posted by: cheungsta

argh...still not working. I can't send or receive picture messages. What settings do you have? I made the GPRS profile (following the instructions in the link from the sticky), but still not working.

Can anyone who has successfully set up their K750i w/ Cingular MMS / picture messaging help me out? I really wanna get this to work.......thanks!

Just curious Thedrod, you would do the exact same steps as you do for T-Mobile right. I see ppl talk about T-mobile at first and then suddenly it jumped to Cingular. So you would need to configure WAP and MMS and then thats it?

OR

does this mean that T-mobile servers will recognize that I have it configured, or do I still have to call in to configure?

Posted by: thedrod

I have not tried setting up this phone for T-Mobile. I don't see why it wouldn't work. I have manually set up phones for T-mobile in the past entering in the settings line by line. This is the first Sony Ericsson Phone I have owned and was pleased with how easy Sony's site allowed the phone to be configured.

All the settings consist of are server addresses...nothing more really.

As far as having the service activated...

This is something you need to take up with your provider. Sometimes the MMS/WAP is disabled completely on your account. You need to contact the provider to either subscribe to the service or to at least enable your account to use the service on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Does it give you an error message? Or does it act like it sent the message and it just doesn't go through?

So i got pic messaging and wap (although it kinda sucks, if theres a better internet app out there can someone let me know), but i cant get my e-mail to work. What are the settings so i can send and recieve e-mails from my phone? Thanks for any help.

Posted by: sneakizm

ok after about an hour of waiting and talking to a whole bunch of ppl with tmobile, they sent me some installation thing for the k500i since they dont support k750i... it didnt work till i RESTARTED the phone

now my problem is it wont allow me to access the web cuz it says i am not subscribed to this when i am... STILL ON HOLD!

Posted by: sneakizm

ok guys heres the info you need from tmobile, this is straight off my phone

go to menu > settings > connectivity (last one to the right) > internet settings > internet profiles > new profile..

the profile tmobile sends is called T-Zone GPRS

go to connect using > new account.. select GPRS data

settings go as follows

internet mode:
HTTP

use proxy:
Yes

proxy address:
216.155.165.050

port number:
8080

no username

no pw

Posted by: sneakizm

its much easier to go do what drod said before, i just signed up and the info is right there.. tmobile too much hassle

Posted by: totally badical

Can someone who has their k750i mms and wap working on Cinglar do something similar to what sneakizm did on his post above? (http://www.howardforums.com/showpos...24&postcount=25) There must be some settings missing from the s/e download for Cingular becase I just can't get that S to work.

Posted by: thedrod

First go to settings>> connectivity>>internet profiles

I have two things in here Cingular MMS and Cingular Express

Under Cingular MMS I have the following settings

Internet Mode: WAP
Gateway Address: 066.209.011.061
Security: off
Username:
Password:

Under Cingular Express I have the following
Connect using “Cingular GPRS”
Internet Mode: http
Use proxy: yes
Proxy address: 066.209.011.032
Port number: 8080
Username:
Password:

Ok that’s all for those

Now, from the main menu go to messaging >> settings >> picture messages >>

>> message server
In this I have http://mmsc.cingular.com

>> Internet Profile
In this I have Cingular MMS that I mentioned up above.

Posted by: thedrod

Hello??? These work for anybody?? Need any more info???

Posted by: totally badical

short answer- no

long answer-

For the MMS settings I didn't have anything under the Gateway Address so I thought that would be it, but nope. I do have more questions though.

For your "Cingular MMS" settings you don't have any data account entered for the "Connect Using" section, which is probably a typo, but I tried it with and without the the Cingular MMS account. Didn't work.

Which leads to my second question. Under settings>>connectivity>>data comm.>>data accounts what accounts do you have and what are the settings there. I think thats where the problem is.

Big thanks so far though.

Posted by: thedrod

ok well give it a shot

Cingular MMS:
APN: wap.cingular
username: wap@cingulargprs.com
password: I don't know I can't read it.
there is nothing else filled out...

no ip address
no dns address

Cingular GPRS:
exact same as above

Posted by: jerzak

I have the same settings and I cannot get it to work as well.

Posted by: thedrod

I am at a loss. The settings for the K750 are not unique to the phone. So if you know anybody with a SE phone and cingular you might want to ask if you can see the phone.

When I opened up my phone from the box, I did nothing to it except have the K700 settings sent to it and it works perfectly. The only thing I can see thats different between at least one of you guys and me is that I live in Texas and you live in California. I hear Cingular's network is all bada$$ in California so maybe the settings are different? I don't know. I have no problems with sending/receiving messages with my current settings.

ok... i swear i've read every possible thread. hehe.. and no luck..

i have an unbranded K750i and Tmobile and the tzones account.. my internet works fine, mms and email all are good.. however, i am unable to connect to the tzones site (wap.myvoicestream.com )....

i have the following setup for accounts/info:

Settings > Connectivity > Internet Settings (as defined in prev post.. and again i can access internet via browser, java apps/games, and even over IR modem.. )

Have the homepage set to http://wap.myvoicestream.com but when i go to the site, i just get a blank page. any ideas?

thanks

In my experience with T-Mobile, if you have a phone that they don't offer...T-zones is worthless. I had a Nokia 6820 back in the day and T-zones was a pile of crap. Almost everything I went to said "Sorry your phone is not supported blah blah blah"
