Take note i have never really used activesync before other than to just manually explore my phone and add files

I am trying to use active sync to sync the contacts on my phone to my computer. But when I do this it gives me this error

Items of one or more information types can not be syncornized. Disconnect and reconnect your device.

To view all error messages and dialogue boxes that require your input, you must connect this to a computer via infa red port or usb.

Anyone have any suggestions on how i can fix this. I need to sync my contacts because my audiovox replacement is coming today.

sorry just got back from work. Im using the activesync program that came with my smartphone. I just receive my audiovox so if anyone knows of another way to transfers contacts all at once that would be good too. I would still like to be able to use the sync feature though.

Make sure Outlook is up and running when you are doing a ActiveSync connection.

You may need to uninstall ActiveSync, delete the folder in C:\Program Files\Micrsoft ActiveSync and reinstall the program.

i use outlook express is that ok or will I need to install the regular outlook?

Posted by: Omega2008

You have to use Office Outlook......if you don't have Micrsoft Office you can install Outlook XP via the CD that came with your phone.

thanks thats probably the problem I will go reinstall it all now and post back to see if it works. Will office outlook just replace outlook express or will I have both on my computer.

It (outlook) will allow you to import your emails and contacts from outlook express into outlook. So you shouldn't have any problems.

Thank you very much omega this has helped out alot. Saved me alot of time from having to manually transfer all my contacts. It also gave me an option to upgrade outlook express, so it actually installed over it which is great too. Is there a newer version of outlook than 2002 that came with my phone cd. Thats really my last question and thank you very much again.

Yes there is Office Outlook 2003 which is the newest version.

Office Outlook just took over priority but Outlook Express is still there. It didn't move the info, it just copies the info there. That's what i was asking earlier but i was on my smartphone so i couldn't type out all that. But glad you got it all figured out now. I use Office 2003 and love it also... not cheap tho... like 150 for the cheapest one i think and it goes up to like $599!!

Posted by: Omega2008

$599 is the enterpise edition I believe....that is the version that I have but....I got it for free and no its not pirated lol

Posted by: stephenp1983

You think the enterprise edition would be worth it for someone like me. Im a college student studing network security, so it might be benificial down the road. I probably could get it for a student discount too.

Posted by: Omega2008

If you want to dish out 600 dollars for it, but its for a enterprise, a huge company and it comes with 5000 user licences (I think maybe more or less)...I have two versions, I bought Student and Teacher edition before I got Enterprize edition and it served me well.

I guess I should have said enterprise I meant upgrading from 2002 to 2003 really.
