Tethering Treo 650 to laptop

Did any of you guys manage to successfully use a Treo 650 tetherd to a WinXP laptop to access the internet? (via Tmobile)

The 'rig' works like a charm when i use my V600, but when I try to do the same thing with the Treo, my laptop fails to "register on the network". The Treo does 'dial' into GPRS

I tried all the standard DUN strings - *99#, *99***1# etc.

Web access on the Treo itself works fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
Alex

I'm also having the same problem. I have done it with v600 and a couple other phones with no problem but the treo just wont work.

Im on tmobile as well.

ummm i had the same issue with cingular... teathering worked... but bt didnt. could not register me on network. said ports not configured right or something like that... sometimes even now it is sooo fussy! but it works mainly.

Have you tried PDA net? not sure if its only cingular or not.. but that prog worked like a charm when teathering was not working good.

EDIT: http://www.junefabrics.com/palmnet/index.php

Screen shot shows T-Mo so it should work!!! Good luck!!!

pdanet was way easier to set up than bt dun. however, pdanet isn't free. make sure you are not putting anything into the username/password fields. the dial string should be *99***1#

i am using treo 650 on ATT/cingular and i got it to work.

I have no problems tethering with T-Mobile on an UNBRANDED Treo 650. Did you enable DUN in the bluetooth preferences?

Posted by: gtalexad2001

Yes, I enabled the DUN. The Treo is unlcoked Cingular version that I recently updated with the unbranded firmware - all the cingular stuff is gone.

I will give PDANET a try and see of that works out of the box.

Did you set up any additional parameters in the computer's dialing prefs. I had to do that. Also, you may need to use the My Bluetooth Places and then unpair the phone and repair each time...followed by initiating network services there.

Hello,

Could anybody please give detail instructions of how to get an Internet connection on the laptop via Treo650? I added the laptop to trusted devices on the Treo, and turned on DUN. What settings should I use on the laptop?

Thank you

i havent tested it on my laptop but on my desktop i got BT DUN working perfectly fine. the dial string i was using was *99***1#

in terms of the user name and password, im not sure what needs to be used for t-mobile. but your error might be there
