OK, I'm lost. Kyocera KE-414 Phantom and ringtones

Been trying Bitpim to put a midi ringtone on my phone. It will put it in the filesystem, but it does not show up. I tried re-naming it to firefly1 to replace one of the default ringers, and it does not work. Says the default ringer midi is locked, and it will not replace it or delete it. How can I unlock the default ringtone so I can delete it and put mine in its place? Or am I way off base here, and I am supposed to be placing these midi ringtones somewhere else in the filesystem? I am using a USB data cable, WindowsXP. GAGIN will not work at all for me on my computer. It errors out.

It seems as there is no interest in the hacking of the Kyocera phones.
I have the K494 and have been asking for help as well. These are my results and the following thread.

Good luck with your search, I will continue on mine and post results as I find them.

If the KE-414's filesystem is anything like the KX-414's (and it seems like it should be), ringtones should be placed here:
user/sound/ringer
If that directory doesn't exist, you'll need to create it.
I know midi files will work on the phone, mine supports .pmds as well, and there's a weird thing where, if a midi file was converted to an mp3 (for preview purposes on a pay site), you can rename that file .mid and it will usually play on the phone.

ok, heres how I got it to work.
I bought the kyocera software from kyocera.com. this does not support custom ringers, but it did create a directory on my phone. I then used gagin and bitpm to place midi files in the directory that the kyocera software created. Worked like a charm!

Alas, we are getting somewhere. I do have the software and drivers and USB cable from Kyocera.
Nightman1... Just a few questions regarding software versions and settings.
1) What version of Gagin and BitPim did you use ?
2) In BitPim what phone setting did you chose to read the phone ?
Thanks

Regarding my last post Above
I am ONLY able to add, remove, copy or download files in the directory that is made for the custom ringers by Kyocera.
I am NOT ABLE to save, back up, copy or touch any other file in the telephone file system.... BitPim generates an error and asks if you would like to quit or continue.
On a side note..... Gagin is ONLY able to display the file system and thats about it.
I've had more success with BitPim 7.35 from www.bitpim.org
I uploded a couple of ringers I made, on the other thread by me, SpaceOddity and Beverly Hills Cop.....
You can find it here http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=712334
Take care all... Like always cheers
