VX7000 - Using Data Cable Modem

Just checking with other users' experiences...

When connecting my laptops/desktops to the internet via the VX7000's CDMA modem, I'm getting 128kbit/sec speeds.

Both the MAC and the XP boxes are getting about the same.

Obviously, the only time you would use this is when you absolutely had to get on the internet for e-mail. I'm surprised that even without subscribing to the web service through Verizon, it seems to make the connection with only the phone number as the ID and vzw as the password. It ignores my own WAP gateway to make a direct connection to the internet.

Your experiences?

Er, please tell me how you did this. I cant get it to work on my laptop
