need to bypass phone lock password

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: q2das

just got a general question...does flexing or flashing the phone erase phone security passwords/pin. Reason being a friend of mine found a V551 but it has a phone lock on it and we can't get into it. Just wondering if there is a way to bypass the password somehow?

Posted by: GldRush98

lol, what, did he find it in someone's pocket or some ladies purse?

Posted by: q2das

haha no nothing like that. She found it lying at her business park....

Posted by: ZoSo65

A flash will do it.

Posted by: GldRush98

You don't even have to flash it... you can read the lock code via cable and p2ktools. It's in a seem.

Posted by: Soul814

yea get seem player and get the code or just restore it to default n ur set

Posted by: q2das

thats good news.....i do have the p2ktools but I've never used it yet....so I would plug it in with the cable and then what would be the procedure from there?

Am I the only one that finds it reprehensible to take a phone that doesn't belong to you. And then ask how to defeat the security measures that were put into place to protect the said phone in-case it became lost? Why not just call the provider and tell them you found someones phone??? maybe they can call them at home and tell them you found your phone and to come pick it up so they can save you and me some hard earned money. :-)

Sheesh, no morals

Just saw this thread, and no you're not the only one BajaMnstr.

q2das .... IMO You should call up the provider and return the phone.

And I'm surprised people are actually helping you with "your problem".

Do the right thing man

Posted by: Soul814

lol Orrr he might of been unlocking it to find the HOME number =DD

Posted by: q2das

exactly we called up Rogers already and they said that IMEI does not belong to anyone in their system....how are we suppose to find the rightful owner without any contact info?

Posted by: BajaMnstr

That's a nice answer but the providers don't just go by IMEI numbers. They use the sim card Number. That's how they track people being billed. not by the IMEI number. :-) because anyone can switch phones while using the same sim card. That is what your number is tied to.

ahahha....come and arrest you...yea right..give me a break....

'this arrest warrant was issued for assisting somebody with flexing their phone'

i bet half of you ppl talking about doing the 'right thing' have an illegal version of pst software

no, the arrest warrant would be using a stolen/lost phone- you cant prove you didnt steal it- and using an illegal version of PST is different from using someones lost phone

Posted by: Flashfox

OK... so your friend "found" a cell phone. Why not call the provider and report it as found? I would have appreciated it if someone would have done this when I lost my cell phone (broken belt-clip).

21st century morals seem to be "finders keepers, loosers weepers". A pitty

Wow, alot of people sure know what's bests for everyone else. Hey I agree the right thing to do is try to return then after a certian amount of time noshow = your phone. But giving the person a verbal tongue lashing isn't my resposibility. Just remember "do unto others what you'd like done to you" and "what comes around go's around. I think that would sum it all up. Thanks for the forums guys.

Well, several years ago I found a wallet with quite a bit of money and ID. Guess what? I brought the wallet to the police station, they noted who I was and to my surprize, I received a thank you letter from the owner. However, when I lost my cell phone, it was lost... period. Am I a morally perfect person? Heck, if I was I would be locked-up in a loony bin. I am human and I do "fail"... but I at least try to help.

In any event, this thread has gone full circle several times. The "subjective" messages were passed. You can now do whatever you want :rolleyes2

hell its the OP's conscience, let him do whatever he pleases. You might disagree but to flame him and call him trash? What ever happened to if you dont have anything nice to say dont say it at all. A lot of people can live with finding a phone and using it, even though you might not be able to. How would you feel hahnyc87 if i followed you around for a day and critqued about every single thing you do. I bet the majority of the users on this forum has done something illegal and gone on with their lives (MPT, PST usage, music download, warez).

Btw about the IP and arrest, that wouldnt work since one, someone has to press charges for the stolen item (i think, dont know much about law), and you cant prove that he stole it besides a forum post? He can just say his friend was having fun on the net.

Posted by: q2das

Just for the record....I do not have possession of the phone, it is my friend who has it. I was asked if I knew a way to bypass the password....that's all. As you can see my phone list, I really have no intention or desire to even use the phone. It is up to my friend if she wants to "do the right thing" and find the rightful owner.

For all you flamers, I understand your point but you are taking the situation way out of context. I wonder why the buyer of MY stolen car audio system system didn't bother contacting the police who would have been able to return the system to me "the rightful owner" (using serial number) :rolleyes2. If you want to talk about morality we can go on forever, but we will never come up with a general solution. Trust me I know the feeling of losing a phone as it has happened to me a couple of times and it aint that great....but you know what, it's just a phone and life goes at the end of the day.

Posted by: Outvit

Maybe I lost my conscience somewhere, somehow, long ago but I say eBay.
(Assuming the rightful owner cannot be contacted. There, don't flame me.)

Aside from that you all really need to read what is said prior to flaming the person. I understand his intentions were not made clear but that does not always mean there is a shady deal going down in some dark back alley. Or is there no space for common sense? Or maybe I'm just a n00b. So flame me anyway.

look, the bottom line is yes we all do illegal things- but this is something that DIRECTLY hurts another person- just think of it as your phone being lost, would you want it sold on ebay? the password is in place for that specific reason....

You haven't encountered apathy have you? At some point you've just seen so much from life, even at a young age or an old age. Doesn't really matter because people will encounter these things at different stages depending on where they live. The point is, at some point you've seen it. You really lose the shock value when you hear the same thing over and over and over. It's almost this incessant droning that you can't get out of your head. Way worse than the song you can't for the life of you bang out of your mind. It's life. That’s what the accidental damage/replacement warranty is for. It’s worth every penny of that $3.99 /month.

Don't worry about him, he's just trying to be a mod, when he keeps getting banned from here. Honestly what I do is sit back and laugh when I see his posts, wondering which one of his "mod" posts will get him banned next.

But yes there are plenty of legit reasons to bypass the phone lock.

Most motorolas have an over-ride when you are presented with a phone lock PIN. Press the Menu Key (three horizontal lines) and key in 000000 and then OK, this should override the PIN and act as a master pin allowing you to switch the security off and perform a master reset, should you want to.
