How to put MP3's on 902 flashed to SX813?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've heard that with a 902 flashed to SX813 firmware, non-DRM MP3's work. How do you get this to work? I've tried putting MP3's onto an SD card, but they don't show up when I put them in my phone? I believe I am putting them in the right folder, but not 100% sure. Someone who has done this, could you give a brief summary of what I need to do? Thanks!

whatever you heard, you probably heard it wrong.
according to what I understand, standard mp3 does not work as ringtone.
regardless of which firmware you have.

Posted by: shengliz

Well, I didn't mean as a ringtone, just MP3 playback in general. And I figured it out, was just putting it in the wrong folder :rolleyes2

hehe, ya only dm files works for ringtone~ i hope someone will crack this silly little mp3 ringtone issue ~ kinda stupid, pay so much for the phone already and want you to pay more for mp3 ringtone? come on ...

put it in private>vodafone>my items>sounds and ringtone, make sure you let the phone refresh and your mp3s cant be over 192 Kbps.

someone a few days ago posted a link to a panasonic jukebox software, apparently by using that software you can make your own drm mp3s. anyone confirm that? but i don't know if they posted the software link for a download.

Posted by: shengliz

Wait, does this mean that DRM MP3's CAN be used as ringtones? I thought mp3 ringtone functionality was not available on any 902's (whether unlocked or reflashed)?

Posted by: Timsta

according to wai lai. it can play mp3 as ringtones as long as the file is DRM,.

Yeppers...thats waht I have heard...but this is the same with a lot of sharp GX phones...

As for the software to do it...I would like to get my hands on it. If someone would be so ever nice to point me (US) in the right direction, we would be greatful...

well.. i downloaded the juke box software and installed it too.. i found it on bt.

i don't have a phoen to try it with . so i dunno.

Posted by: shengliz

Could you send me the binary or post a link to the torrent? I sent u a PM w/ my email, thanks.

Posted by: Timsta

link sent. it should download pretty quick. probably within an hour

Posted by: shengliz

Are you sure that is the proper Jukebox? The one downloaded is Musicmatch, not Panasonic SD Jukebox. I imported some mp3's onto my SD card, but still no mp3 playback as ringtones.

Posted by: Timsta

according to the picture i've seen.. it comes with the musicmatch jukebox... but i coudl be wrong. cause i went on ebay and found the sd reader. and on the packaging it said it came with the jukebox. but i can always be wrong!

Posted by: scionga

can you actually play those mp3s for listening purposes (no ringtone) on a 902sh (not flashed, just unlocked) when using the jukebox?

Posted by: shengliz

I was playing around and I found a way to make mp3 quality mmf's using only 2 software programs (both COMPLETELY free). I was amazed by the quality of the sound. I've seen a lot of how-tos on converting mp3's to mmf's, but I think this method is really easy and the results are great. If you guys are interested, let me know, and I'll post a new thread with a quick guide. For the time being, this is an acceptable alternative to having real mp3 ringtones.

Yeah, Please do!!!

Posted by: Timsta

That will be great idea....i love to hear how to make mp3 to mmf in a more easy way

there is another program that is free and converts mp3 to dm so you can use as ringtones. forgot the name right now.

as for MP3s to 902 with 813fw you have to copy the MP3 to your sound and ringtone folder. if its the debranded/non-voda firmware then its under 'smartphone' folder instead of the old vodaphone folder.

and still you can not use mp3 directly as ringtone. you must use mmf or dm.
mmf is a downgraeded version and compressed
dm is still original content just with added protection and also alot shorter. who needs more than 1minute ringtone? 300k is long enough i think.

Find out what program that could convert normal mp3 into drm mp3 yet?? Also is it confirmed that only panasoinc sd card reader works?? (Can't manually put the drm mp3 file directly into the folder??)

if you use the jpn firmware you can not just copy mp3 = 100% accurate
if you using chinese or uk firmware then you can copy mp3 100%
so far only panasonic card readers work because panasonic is the only company that made the drivers for DRM. sony has similar DRM but thats for MD discs.

btw mistake
its not smartphone its smartone

^ if you can provide me with the full name and product number of the Panasonic card reader that will be great, thanks!!
