5600 Keypad tones - length?

Hi all,

When I auto-dial my home answering machine to retrieve messages, I have the appropriate pause built-in followed by my numeric password. However, 95% of the time it doesn't work. Since it works perfectly from a landline, I suspect that the tones generated by the 5600 are either too short or off in pitch or something. (Note that manually entering the password doesn't make help either) Does anyone have any ideas? I have not found a setting to change the length of the tone, only the setting that says off/click/tone. For grins I tried all three and they made now difference. This problem is very troublesome as one of the man uses of my phone is to retrieve home messages while driving, hands-free.

Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

^bump - I guess if nobody else has these problems, that is information in itself - I must be doing something wrong.
