Thank you for posting that. A great deal of effort obviously went into it.

I loved the last sentence: "44. If all went well, your phone should now turn on and operate normally." If not, you have a $400-$700 paperweight. $200 with rebates.

While I would prefer the silver housing of the S700i, there is not a chance in h-e-double toothpicks that I am going to attempt that swap. My new mantra is: I love my S710a the way it is!

globalmob, are those the only peices to the housing you guys sell? i also need the grey portion of the s710 (the peice in between the face and the back).

yo. i just want to say that this guide is probably the best i've used. i've taken apart about 8-10 S700i/s710as now and i use this guide every time. i got the time down to about 1 hr per phone now. so yah. this is awesome. just becareful guys wiht the lcd screen

haha. that metal ring is easy to replace..
its the shutter lens that is hard to rebuild

I want to change my LCD-screen and I have few questions:

1. How much does a new LCD-screen cost?

2. What is the size of the screwdriver that you use?

3. For LCD replacement it´s possible to start at step 18, isn't it?

4. I've read in several discussion forums that it's not possible to convert an S710a in S700i by changing the firmware, because of the difference of the bands (850 and 900 MHz) and the EDGE and radio function. I found in a german internet-shop cheap parts. And I'm wondering if it might be possible to change the GSM-antenna and the receiver and then to flash S710a with S700i firmware. What do you think about this idea? Are the two parts enough for convertion? Do the phones have more differences than this two parts?

I saw some of the covers floating around on ebay. And i wanted to change the cover. But after seeing that ....... forget it, that looks so friggin scary. I love my s710a too much for all that. If someone did this as a service i might consider it. But looks very cool none the less

oh damn.. is the site completely down?

i might have an archive manual of it.. i'll have to look around for it. but its failrly straightfoward.. take out the screws using t6 screwdriver. two is hidden under the quickshare sticker

It appears that you all you guys have a S710A. I had mine for 2 and half years, but recently the screen cracked and is now useless to me. Anyways I have some audio and pictures on this phone that I want to keep. Only problem is that I cannot see what I am doing to try and copy it from my phone to my memory stick.

If someone would be so kind as to sending me a step by step to work through the menus to copy the audio file from the phone to the memory stick (i can get to the song and play it in "my files," so from there (starting with selecting "more") would be amazing!!!

PS. I would need it in the form of "click the right button to select more, scroll down 2 clicks, and push the middle button" ... If it just says "go to manage files" etc, it will not be useful as I cannot see where that option is.

A friend is going to give me his S710a and some cash for my M600i, but the housing on his phone is all scratched up. I would like to replace the housing and was wondering if anyone had the updated link to this guide. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

HELP!!!!

Anyone know of a source for the little magnet inside the LCD display part that tells the camera the rotating hinge is closed (so the camera can be used)?

I swapped cases on one, and my kids threw out the old case before I found out the new case didn't come with the 'closure' magnet.....now I need one!

Anyone have a spare?

I've tried a small circular magnet but it not only doesn't fit in the exact spot it has to go, but if I put it in the only spot it CAN go, it doesn't make the 'closed' sensor detect closed....

If anyone has a spare magnet, or the entire 'back' of the lcd part (with the magnet) that would do fine too......I've gotten pretty good at tearing this sucker apart.....
