Corp Rep: Nokia 6102 coming soon, never heard of 6682

I went to the corp store in Burlington, MA (well one of them anyway, the orange not the blue one), and the guy who had a HS810 gradted to his head stated that a nokia rep showed him the 6102. He complained that it had no bluetooth. Obviously doesn't understand what the market is for this phone Anyway he had no idea about a 6682, dissapointing since it's supposed to come out on the 15th of this month.

Posted by: aj&t

Obviously this rep hasnt seen the latest price sheet.

Posted by: rallyts

I went to a local agent on Saturday to ask if they could tell me when the 6682 would be available. They said they hadn't even heard of it. I said, "It's not even on a pricesheet or anything?" They said "No." :rolleyes2 Looks like I won't be going there when it does become available.

hehe the guy today seemed to be fascinated by my 8890 but was also devastated at the fact that it had no bluetooth

That's fine, but does it have a price yet? It should be on the price sheet for this month, right?

Not the kind of news I was waiting for.

The tentative launch date for the Nokia 6682 is July 15th....it's a shame the rep didn't know that..

Posted by: anubis9278

Its on the price sheet for Directs and Employees for July 15 - Tentative Launch Date. No price yet. I would ques-timate around 349.95 2yr but hey its a quess.

Now my spirits are better.

Since when did the price sheet mean that equipment would be on time :P I remember the c207 and p207 on the price sheet, yet no dice. Also I remember all the marketing material for the 3220 and only now are we even seeing it pop up on the website.

I am certain we will get the equipment, just curious to see when

Words cannot describe how pissed I would be if this is true. The 7610 NEVER showed up in any Texas market, to my knowledge, and now it's discontinued. If I have to drive to another freakin state to get my 6682, I'm gonna be real annoyed, and will let Cingular know it. The days of geographic launches should be OVER, if you're wanting to truly be a nation-wide company.

The rep may have known the launch date, the rep probably also knows launch dates on price sheets are estimated dates, and they sales rep probably also knows sale what I have now, not what I may have later.

This won't happen....since Cingular has decided to phase out the Nokia 6620 and replace it with the 6682.

Per original poster, the rep had no idea of what a 6682 was...if you ask me, that's the hottest Nokia we have coming...he should know...

Trust me, I can ask 45 people around me and maybe 2 of them will know.

I am right there with you! I want the 6682, but it seems like Texas doesn't get any of the high end phones (especially the town that I live in). Does Cingular just take us for a bunch of dumb hicks?

<end rant>

Thanks!

Lol. I'm in Abilene, and actually, sadly, most of the Cingular customers out there are dumb hicks. I know cause I set most of them up on their phones. They pick Cingular, though, cause Cingular's the only one with coverage out in the boonies.

On topic: So this phone is still supposedly coming out next Friday?? That's 9 days away (I think)!! REAL excited, hope nothing goes wrong with this launch. So close and no one's heard or seen anything but a price sheet??

Right....either Cingular does a lousy job at training reps, or Cingular doesn't know to hire more responsible reps...

Posted by: Rcadden

Also most reps worry more about what's in the store now rather than what's coming to the store in a few weeks. Which honestly is what they should be doing. It's just annoying to us who care about the latter.

We will get training on it once its released. There have been cases where a phone model was stocked in the warehouse for delivery and still cancelled. Once a phone shows up on the shelves, then it's time to worry about it, not before. There are enough people that cant properly demonstrate the phones on the shelves now.

one word when it comes to Cingular and their front line employees:

CHEAP!

very well said.

a proper-minded salesperson will limit the spread of such "future info" to those who will truly benefit and use the information wisely. if the average joe knew something "even cooler" was "coming soon", they might not buy today what they really need more.

and with historical occurrences like mamosley described, that's even more reason to tread cautiously.

hardware reps must hate hofo-visiting carrier reps.

probably as much as i hate the yokel that comes in to my stores after reading some CR article or watching TechTV. < shudder >

Posted by: aj&t

I love the consumer reports customers. When I worked at sprint we used to get people looking for the a460 cause CR said it was the best. What a peice of crap it was. But they had to have it.

The August price list for South Texas list it's availability as TBD with a cost over $300

Saw a demo model close to it at STonebriar Nokia store. Has a great camera but I am not a Nokia fan...........
