Does it make a difference if my Treo 650 is locked or unlocked to Rogers?..

I was just offered an 'unlocked' Treo 650. Does this unit have the same usability as a Rogers 'locked' phone that I would buy from a AD?
I am a little concerned that Rogers units may have certain pre-installed software that offers beter features and is more reliable/easier use then the generic unlocked Palm units. Is this the case, or will I notice no diffrence?
For anyone who has used an unlocked unit..........how is/was it?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Unlocked just means you can use different carriers SIM cards. The phone can be given the firmware for the apporopriate carrier if you really concerned about missing logos, etc. I use a unlocked, unbranded phone on Cingular. I've seen Palmone does offer a flash if thats important. Otherwise you won't have any problems aside from maybe having to program internet settings manually.
