My Z600 stopped charging the battery. I´m so sad because this was the first phone I really liked. And now I´m afraid of buying another Z600...

Maybe you just need a new battery?

I´ve sended it to service and they said I need to change the "main board"; it´s the price of a new one. But I don´t trust them, because the phone is working so well, so I´m thinking of trying another battery.

Does it work while plugged in? (I don't know if the phone uses power from the charger, like how a laptop works while plugged in) A new battery shouldn't be too expensive.

It doesn´t recognize that the charger is plugged in. But everything else is working ok. So I did something that we are recommended not to do: I used an old charger with similar voltage/amperage and plugged directly into battery, outside the phone. After about 2 hours, I placed the battery inside the phone again and the battery meter showed full charge!
I´m happy again !

Fugh, this just happened to my z600 as well, i plug in the charger and it does not seem to recognize it. when it is off it looks like it is charging...I think it may be the battery...this phone is just over a year old...don't know if will get another SE

i had sorta the same problem...i've had mine for 9 months now....i gave it to my brother and got an S710 instead
he hasn't had problems with charging (he IS using an older charger though...does that make a difference?)

It started charging again! But I´m thinking of replacing it by a W600i, this phone is really cool !

My Z600 started to do the same thing. Thought it was defective until a new unit did the same thing. Here is the problem: the interface between the charging cord and the phone is not 100%. I regularily charge mine even though the connection is not 100%.
By playing with the angle of the adapter into the phone (gently up or down) you can usually get the phone to start charging (look for the red LED to go solid on the side to indicate charging). Sometimes a gentle twist will get it to engage. Otherwise properly remove and re-attach the charger and reattempt the up/down pressure to get the phone to start charging.
Once the phone DOES start to charge, you will want in to stay that way. What works for me is pinning the cable back underneath the charging phone to maintain pressure on the charging connection in the direction necessary. If this in confusing or doesn't work just try to find something or someway that will keep slight pressure on the connector in the direction that will keep it charging.
This always works for me. I'll watch the phone for 30 sec. after getting it to charge to make sure that the pressure on the connector will keep the phone charging after I walk away. Once you can get it to stay charging for 30 sec. at least, you'll find that over 90% of the time it will stay charging until your phone is fully recharged.
I hope that these instructions will help you charging a phone that I otherwise consider to be a great phone.
I certainly hope the new connectors on S-E phones will make up for the terrible connectors/chargers for these phones.

Thank you ! It worked (thought it gives a lot of work ...) !
