I have. It depends on what you need. If you need a trip navigator, Telenav is the way to go. Just like the promos say, it will give you turn by turn directions.
However, I found that because of network speeds and connectivity refreshing the data while in a city sometimes lags behind. It wont tell you you have missed your turn until you are a block or two past it. It also sucks up the data kb's.
Unfortunately this is when I would need it most, for long trips I use my robust (and data plan free) desktop software anyway. Because of one-way streets a missed turn in an unfamiliar city may add 20-30 minutes to your trip as you try to get back on course.
MapQuest's find me however, is the most useful for me personally. When I need a location service most is when I am lost. This programs access to MQ's database has a lot of advantages. You can immediately (as fast as your connection, lol) pull up a map of where you are so you can make your own decisions, or decide to go deeper (use more data) if you are still clueless.
It also does a dang fine job of finding places nearby like gas stations or that shop you heard about in town "X" but forgot or lost the exact addy when you finally get there. Or if your like me on long hauls, you don't actually plan your overnights until you get tired, lol.
Also if you update MQ's web page for your phone with your intended destination before you go, "Find Me" will show you how to get there if you decided on a side trip while in route.

thats great information how about driving directions do you think the mapquest is just as efficent/good as the telenav the telenav seems to have and edge as its so automated. in regards to mapquest (from the demo) you have to click each step of the way?

Yeah telenavs auto feature is nice. But like I said, stop for a beer somewher and it eats up your data plan giving new directions to get back on track, lol. Just like a word processor will never replace a pencil and a peice of paper, none of these programs will ever replace a good old gas station map and directions from Goober, lol.
You can't look ahead and you are stuck with the programs descriptions...

> TURN LEFT FOR .3 MILES ON MAIN ST. MAIN TURNS INTO FRONT ST.
> CONTINUE ON FRONT ST FOR 2.7 MILES. FRONT ST. TURNS INTO STATE RT 252.
> CONTINUE ON 252 FOR 7.8 MILES. BEAR RIGHT ON TO RAMP FOR INTERSTATE 75 SOUTH FOR .1 miles ...

Instead of: Hang a left at the next light and in about 10 or 11 miles you'll see signs for I 75. Take the on ramp toward Atlanta...

The M/Q sounds like good stuff. Do they both require a subscription to a data plan?
