I am considering getting the treo 650, I currently have my unlimited media net, my question is, would it be possible for me to keep my unlimited media net and use the treo? i would prefer not to pay the 40 dollars a month since i will switch between a treo and 6230. I just wonder if it is at all possible

Of course, as long as you don't let them know you got a PDA-phone! And whatever you do, DO NOT TETHER! Not you can't but Cingular are aware of people doing it and if they find out, you are on your own.

The thing is, if you are doing upgrade, they might compare your current phone with your features to your phone since PDA-phones are not supposed to have MediaWorks packages although they works just fine. If you are buying it without a contract, yeah pop the SIM right in and wala! Happy Treo-ing!

Wish this helps.

ah ok i was under the understanding that the treo uses a different connection method to get online than the 6230 and 6620

You are more then welcomed! The technical differences between a Media Package and a PDA-plan is one is NAT-ed another is non-NAT-ed. They both sign on via GPRS/EDGE or CSD (in case) but using a different user name/password even APN.

So yeah, as long as you don't let them know you have a PDA-phone, you are fine. Do make sure your MediaWorks is that first generation unlimited GPRS $19.99 plan, which is the grandfathered one.

ah ok i'm just worried since my friend who is a rep says that he has seen people getting nailed with large charges from people who had a data plan and it wasn't the PDA plan.

Be sneaky and just don't let them know, as long as they don't know you have a PDA-phone running on Media package they won't bother to anaylse the packets lol.

so i'm guessing you are doing the same? i just have to pretend i have my 6620 which isn't classified as a PDA by cingular and i can get the treo 650 and use it.

Yes I do lol, I had the very first one MediaWorks Unlimited package. Still in my Cingular customer profile I'm on a Nokia 3595 lol, I've been on month to month for years now. Though I've been thru couple Series 60 phones and Moto MPx220 without problems.

Anyway, GOOD LUCK!
