Does the cingular branded phone have to be on the account and purchased through cingular?

when i did an insurance exchange i sent them my vodaphone branded v525 that i bought off e-bay and they sent me a v551. I dont think you would have had to buy the phone from cingular.

Who did you file an insurance claim with that required you to send your phone in?

yah but that's insurance/lockline. i'm talking straight up warranty.

so long as it's branded, I don't think you'll have a problem. You might wanna change the IMEI that Cingular has on your account to the appropriate one, just for good measure. Any agent can do this easily and quickly (it's three clicks for me through telegence) or you can simply call in and tell them you got a new phone and want to register the new IMEI. I've done both. And apparently it doesn't matter how long the IMEI has been registered to the account. I have done XBM on a phone which I had registered to my account only minutes before.
