Would you guys take Nokia 9500 over P910i?

Hi, I've been doing little research on the Nokia 9500 and I like what it has to offer. Except the size of course. But what does the P910i has to offer? I'm planning to get a new phone/contract in the next 2 weeks and I'm comtemplating between these two phones.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. Howard forum does have a lot of people who knows about cellphones more than I do.

Regards,

H

I have been using the P910i for about 6 months, I have Agile Messenger, Smartmovie and Handy Day 2005 loaded onto it.

As a backup phone I am using a black RAZR V3.

Both phones are great. The P910i is loads of fun on the multimedia front and the RAZR is more for those business occassions. I considered the Treo 650 for a while, but with all the bugs and trouble other people were having I decided against it. Plus the P910i's screen is larger which works out excellent when watching the movies.

I synchronize both phones by Bluetooth and the P910 currently has a 1 Gig card.

Of course both have the Hello Moto ringtone selected

The 9500 does not have a boatload of applications. The Pxxx series does (because its based on UIQ). If applications matter to you then go with the SE Pxxx.

I would buy both if I could

Heheheh I'm not rich like you guys. I called my cellphone dealer and the guy can hook me up with a new contract for $320 for the P910i and about $400 for the 9500. I'm comtemplating between the two so I'm just waiting to hear feedbacks from you guys. Thanks much.

Go for the P910! It's smaller, Lighter, has many more apps, is WAY more customizable (see the literally thousands of themes online for free), and if you get the program Handy Day Pro 2005, you can use Today screen plugins just like on a pocket PC, making it even more customizable! Right now I use a matching Handy Day and phone theme, for seemless looks.

The P910 is WAY more stylish.... Nokia was never known for their stylish phones.... and the P910 is the ONLY phone to currently offer ALL of the input methods by default (thumboard qwerty keyboard, grafiti language, T9, and an on screen keyboard) And I don't think the 9500 has a touch screen at all... none of the communicators do if I remember correctly.

I'd go for the P910... hey wait... I already did!

I had the 9300 and I tried the 9500 and went for the P910A. Couldn't wait to get rid of my 9300. The 9300 CPU is slow (same as 9500), and eventho its got EDGE, the web browser speeds on the P910A and 9300 has no difference. You'd have to pry my P910A over my dead body before I switch to a 9500.

I'd say go for the P910 any day. Its just a great, all-round phone-PDA. That 9500 looks small in pictures (compared to reality). Hold it in your hand and it literally feels like a brick. Where will you carry it? (well ok, if you carry a briefcase around with you all the time, I guess you could carry it in that!)

I've seen people just holding it in their hand 24/7 - just doesn't make sense when a P910 can easily fit into a trouser pocket.

and its costing you 320USD with contract? No contest!!

could not afford 9500

I debated between the 2 and decided on the P910 because of size and more apps for it. I do not regret the decision one bit. It is a great phone!

I own both and use the P910 more. Here's why.

1) it's smaller and more pocketable
2) it's smaller and more pocketable

The 9500 is great, but it is big. It's slower than the P910, but has longer battery life (that's why I'm guessing is slower). If you like using a stylus go for the P910i. I like the thumbboard on the P910, but the 9500's board is easier and faster to type with. The wifi I found very useful on the 9500. I found there was enough software on both devices that I needed. Other than that, for me it really was about the size. If th 9500 was smaller I'd probably use it more.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Symbian OS; UIQ; 316) Opera 6.31 [en-US])

post it on the series 80 forum and you'll get a different set of answers. its a personal choice, and those who are active on the UIQ forum certainly have a bias towards what they have

I'm also weighing between the two. An attractive feature of the 9500 is the wifi. Are there any other phones that have wifi?

Rumours on the follow up to the P910i are reporting WIFI I think. Maybe it's worth a wait? Personally I can live without the WIFI.

You can't deny the cool factor of the 9500, I had the P910 and loved it, I wish it had edge but it couldn't be perfect. My IT person made some changes on the server and I could not remotly access my email, for some reason Smartphone was the ony way for me to do it, but I still miss my P910 to this day.

i've held both the 9300 and the 9500. the 9500 is definitely big and heavy. i would only get the 9500 if its a "primary" computer replacement. i have seen the 910i and i like it. however, i'll wait for the 950 or whatever they're gonna call it. i want SymbianOS 9.x and UIQ 3. it should have more bluetooth profiles, that each of the SymbianOS 7.x phones seem to be missing.
