I realize that this phone has been discontinued (phonescoop link), but it's super cheap on Ebay now. Does anyone have any experience with it? It would still work on Cingular if I swap in the SIM card I'm going to have in a few days, right?

This phone supports the 850/1900MHz GSM and has the two screens I have been looking for. SBC can't get me any decent deals on phones, so I plan on making the phone provided through them my backup.

As look as the phone is unlocked, or Cingular branded you can use it on the network.

it's a very very cheap phone in terms of durability and quality

i went through 2 of them when the hinge snaped off from opening and closing it within a matter of months and just ended up getting something else

i would recommend a different phone, for that price you could probably find a decent unlcoked nokia 3120 unless of course you're into the flip phones

then i would say an unlocked sammy x426/427 would be better than the moto.

I actually have a Samsung x427 coming in for free after rebate with my contract. I do like the flip models, but I'm looking for a model with the caller ID LCD that's visible when the phone is closed. SBC only had them with cameras for around $150, no rebates.

Thanks for the input on that model. I wont be buying it.

yeah the sammy is a good phone...
try looking online for an unlocked samsung s307 or p107
both have external displays...i always liked samsungs, just wished they would put out some nice gsm phones like they have cdma ones

and another phone thats nice with external display for the price you could probably find cheap is the lg l1200, and l1400

the motorola v180 is cheap, don't bother with that, my roommate went through 2 and the third one is still junk. same goes for the v220

Don't get the Sammy e317, you can find very few to NO accessories for this phone, epsecially WORKING handsfree adapters and headsets. It uses a 10-pin connector instead of the universal 2.5mm!
