well i just bought a new i850 and i have a data cable from nextel. i was wondering wat exactly i need to download to put ringtones and wallpapers on my phone. thanks in advance

I'm in the EXACT same boat having purchased the data cable yesterday. the retail store manager told me to go to Nextel site and there would be instructions on how to make the data cable functional... BS!

Webjal is a program that let's you put ringtones, wallpapers, and games on your phone.
Look here and it will tell you where to get it from. I made a tutorial for it.

I've tried downloading and unzipping that file 8x and it simply doesn't work. I can't get anything to extract from the zip folder except some messages which are useless. I have a newer computer running XP home edition.

Any advice?

so i actually get a pop up window which tells me I need a notepad reader file in order to read the contents of your files which would hopefully direct me to the appropriate site(s). I've searched my system and the internet and have gotten nothing.

This is frustrating as you know what. There HAS to be an easier way of getting wallpaper to work. Is webjal the only program that allows the friggin data cable to transfer files from pc to phone???!!!??!

After you get your data cable if it is a usb cable download this:

Then after you get your cable Download the following.

1.Download AND Install WebJAL_R010103 from here

Webjal

2.Then download the patcher from here

i followed your links, installed everything... now what? I try to click on the webjal icons and it starts to reinstall.

I give up.

this freaking webjal piece of crap is useless to me. I've tried every suggestion in every thread on this entire forum and nothing works. I don't blame anyone here in fact I thank everyone for their tremendous patience.

I am really PO'd at the NEXTEL dufus who sold me the data cable and referred me to the nextel site for a super easy download of necessary software to start zipping wallpaper, images and ring tones as easy as pie.....He is right that such an easy utility should exist though. I don't understand Motorola and/or Nextel's approach here.

Oh well. Enough complaining. Thanks again for the fast answers and really solid attempts to help me. Best to all of you
