Problems with Mobile Office Kit

Ok, this thing is aggravating me.

I bought the Mobile Office Kit for the data cable. I got home, installed everything just as the directions say... and it didn't work. I kept getting error messages that the drivers weren't installed, even though I installed them (multiple times, actually). Yesterday, I don't remember what I did, but I got the cable working. I could connect to the phone book program that the kit comes with, and the other Verizon program it comes with, but after I unplugged it, its is no longer working. Whenever I plug the cable into the USB port, a bubble pops up saying 'USB Device Not Recognized'. Can someone help me?

ETA: I probably should give you all of my info
Phone: LG VX6100
OS: Windows XP
I'm on a laptop (that have something to do with it?)
any other info needed, just let me know!

Doesnt matter if you are on a laptop...I use my VX8000 and the Mobile Office Kit on my laptop without any problems. You sure you got the right Mobile Office Kit and are using the proper cable? Chances are that the cable is the wrong one unless it came with the Office Kit and the kit is made for your phone.

You can also download the latest USB drivers for your phone from LG's website. I recommend doing that and not using the ones included on the CD found in the Mobile Office Kit.

I would uninstall all the drivers and software and reboot (if you dont know how post back). Then reinstall the drivers for your phone from LG's website (you dont need the software from the Office Kit CD) BEFORE plugging in your phone. Try a different USB port also. After the drivers are installed, plug your phone into the laptop. After the new device is detected it will ask you for the drivers...let windows install them automatically (the default and first option). A message saying they are not certified may pop up...click continue. Do this as many times as necessary for the ports and devices to be installed.

Post back if you continue to have problems.

Also, if you are still having problems, check out this "Bitpim for Dummies" guide found in this forum

I had the same issues with mine, and that was why I took it back. I have another cable coming, so I am waiting to see if that will make a difference.

I thank you for your reply, but I'm having problems navigating LG's site. I go to the downloads section, and find no mention at all about USB drivers. Could someone give me hand with that? Thanks!

ETA: Yes, the cable is the right one for my phone (unless Verizon packaged the wrong cable in the VX6100 Mobile Office Kit - which I wouldn't put past them!)

Your right...no USB drivers are listed for that phone. I would search these forums for any links to vx6100 usb drivers (if they exist). If not, uninstall and then re-install the drivers that came with the office kit cd. You dont need to install the software that is on the cd.

Awesome, it worked. I don't know if it was because of the drivers or the fact that I got a new phone today (the earpiece on the other one broke, so Verizon replaced the phone), but it now works. My purchase of the data cable is now not a complete waste of money. Thank you very much!
