Then just start over. pros and cons of using a publix proxy server........ if it shows it, its most likely up and may be for a while. you will never know when the ip will lease out on the public server. your own server--- ful controll of the server itself---you dont need a pc running a server program per say, you can run it on win me, xp and xp pro. if your ip ever changes, you will know what it is from your isp provider. Sending pics other than vzw pic place. YOU CAN ONLY MAKE THESE CHANGES IF YOU HAVE 2.0 AND MAYBE 1.0 SOFTWARE ON YOUR PHONE--MENU-9-9-2(S/W VER. T61VZ0?) A community you can join and have your own page is http://peffis.com/message.php?mid=2359 It seems to be a good effort by someone and nicely laid out. Although I couldnt get it to work on my phone, other have. Humpa has a nice setup that supports this. Next go to menu-0-0000000-*-899667-5-mmsc server There input http://www.humpa.com Later I will be seeing wtf is with getting the text server changed on the phone-- Any comments are always welcome!!! I still get the same error message I got trying to use the free public proxies. I get "Error: Network Down". This error message isn't covered anywhere that I've found in the message boards. What am I missing????
On a separate note, should I be able to telnet to check that the nowwap and router settings are working? Let's say that my assigned ip is 162.42.25.122, should I not be able to use another machine and open a command prompt and type "telnet 162.42.25.122 8080" and get a response? When I try it, it says that that a connection could not be made. Of course, I'm doing this from another computer on the same network behind the same router, so that could have something to do with it. Any help you could give me is greatly appreciated. I'm fairly knowledgable about computers (fix everyone elses) but feel like an idiot trying to set this up with no progress. Thanks. BTMusic |

I also found a link in one of these forums that had a web link you could click and it would give you your address - it matched the address the router was giving as the outside address. Any other ideas?
