Whats the max MMC to use on a QD now?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hey all, before I buy "another" 128 MB MMC card, rather see if the QD can go higher then that, whats the most stable MMC amount you can use for the QD? Thanks, this way I can ebay for the right thing. Is it 512? Is there a certain type to avoid? Thanks. =) (Rather not pull my MMC from my 3650 heh)

the highest mmc avaliable rite now afaik...so its 1 gb (i think it will work with 2 gb if there is one)

You can use 1GB one for sure, I guess there won't be problems with 2GB too

never say never unless u are 100% sure...just in case

i tried it today...it works...at least on my ngage

I think anything up to 4gb will work but 2 is currently the highest available

There can be compatibility issues with memory cards always stay away from kingsmax

Most stuff will work samsung based chips seem to work the best if you want to play it safe http://www.mobymemory.com offer cards at resonable prices all with a 5 year warrenty and guarenteed 100% compatible

If in doubt just ask here or pm and i can try to find out

lol no thanks

I think 1gb - 2gb cards work on N-Gage but it terribly slows the system down. So i would say use at the max. 512mb card.

...well not on my ngage/w800i...they both use 1 gb (1 mmc and 1ms duo pro)~

But for optimum usage of phone 512mb is preferrable!

i'm using 512mb in mine, no problems

This is question which not even Nokia self can answer... (I seriously mean that!)

The Nokia HelpLine says it only support 128mb (orignal Nokia MMCs...)
The N-Gage official website(n-gage.com) says its 256mb.

None of the officials sources are right, as it will work with cards up to (atleast) 2gb, possibly 4gb too( but as said, 2gb is the largest right now!)
But, there might be problems with diffrent kind of manufacturers and types of the card (MMC+[?] MMC-mobile, and whatever there is...)
Kingmax is one of the manufacturers which u should stay away from. (probably already told!)

(I guess this was just another [2nd] confirmation which came from me tonight...)

This i heard also on some Swedish forums aswell. (Now rumors) What ive heard, the phone will be slower with larger then 512mb cards. But this i cant say for sure, as i never tested!

hmmm not hhere with my 1 gb card~

Posted by: Freddy Flash

I was told by a Nokia rep that when anything larger than a 512 is in the phone it'll only read half of the card at a time. I've never, ever heard this from any other source, so I call BS on him.

I'm using a 2gb in my n-gage and it's not given me a problem yet. I've only got about 700mb's filled though. Time will tell

Posted by: angel_wing0

the rep is lying

I really dont think that a larger card will actually slow the whole system down, I had used 1GB memory stick in my old P900, 1GB on my Sharp 903, 1GB on my SE Z800, 1GB on my Mitac Mio, 1GB on my XDA IIs, 1GB on my XDA mini and Moto MPX220 nothing really changed any of them, they are all still fast and i dont see any difference between system speeds on 512 or 1GB. And i am planning on getting a 1GB for my N-Gage so i dont really think it will effect the N-Gage either... And i am pretty sure that Nokia Rep is BSing, no device will read a memory card half at a time

they should hire us to be the reps

then it'll be very hard...i can look for one for u in canada perhaps

Posted by: izzie

i think using any is possible.. but just that if the memory of the card is more than 512, guess the phone might slow down, because of the capacity of the mmc.

Posted by: angel_wing0

no it wont slow down...also depends on the brand of the mmc~
