Hey everyone. I wasn't really sure where to post this so forgive me if I'm in the wrong place. I do have one... I've been thinking about a Blackberry and feel that I should go with one on a the fastest wireless network possible. So I figured I should go for Verizon or Sprint with their 1xRTT network. However, I do not need a voice plan. Just the Blackberry. So I thought maybe Earthlink but my quesiton is, do they have their own network or do they use Sprint/Verizon ot someone else? Any thoughts?

Their coverage map looks like that of Verizon. I'm almost positive that's who they are using.

You can get a blackberry without a voice plan from Verizon. You can still make calls from the bb, but they will cost you .45 per minute,

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7250/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

Why Earthlink? Do they offer better pricing than Verizon or Sprint?

Earthlink was providing a deal a few months ago on pretty low rates on BB's

EarthLink uses the Verizon network so you have the same coverage. EarthLink's unlimited data plan is 39.95/mo. vs. Verizon @ $49.95/mo. Also, since EarthLink is a data company they "get" email, data, and internet issues better than Verizon. Finally, EarthLink's customer service is light-years better than Verizon's IMHO.

According to their website, the only way to make calls for .25 per minute on a Verizon data plan is if you have the Max Choice Plan which includes 3000 minutes + unlimited data for $169.95, and use more than 3000 minutes..

That may be your experience but during my ten years as a AirTouch/Verizon subscriber the customer service (billing, in-store, and tech support) has been underwhelming. They do have great coverage though.
