CDM8940 Vibrating Messages

Hi All
I have the CDM 8940 and was wondering if anyone has figured this out, forgive me if the answer is incredibly simple. I can only make the phone vibrate when a message comes in if I turn off the sound and put the phone on vibrate only. I really want to play my music and vibrate when the messages come in.

The phone wont play the tone and vibrate at the same time for text messages or message reminders.

mine does set it to ring & vibe

It will play tones and vibrate for a phone call on that setting but not for a text message. It will only play the tone for a text message.

I was irritated by that also but the fact that I can set a different text message tone for every person in my contacts list made up for it. Not many phones do that and I have the best time finding random movie sound quotes to send to the phone for text message rings. my favorite feature on the phone

Odd side not to that i was in a public restroom the other day standing at a urinal and my girl text messaged me. Her tone is the red queen computer from the movie resident evil saying "ive been a bad bad girl" it was pretty loud in the hollow sounding bathroom. there were people in the stalls but no one standing next to me it was pretty amusing

Yeah that feature does kind of make up for the lack of vibration, my girls text ringer is Let's get it on, just that line from the song. I also have some adam sandler quotes from his first CD, which are funny for my friends texts.

How do you add a tone for the text message?

In the contact you want to add the tone too. select edit and find it i think under the call tone option.

Phobic or anyone,
I was wondering if anyone has found a way to reallocate the default memory settings for the tones folder mine fills up real fast while I still have like 18 mb of internal memory available. Thanks

no not that ive heard of. The memory allocation is wierd the phone is supposed to have 64mb but get it now only shows 32mb. When I fill up my phone with a big video file like 24mb the total memory avaiable changes it should show that as a constant but it doesnt so it seems like its split in half but then it can borrow from the other side or something. If your haveing problems make sure your not locking too many video and picture texts in your text messages, clean out your call loggs and send some of your images (not pix) to the verizon online picture album.

how do you get it into your phone?

You either email it to yourself through verizon pix place. (go to the website and sign up for it) or buy a data cable from radioshack, download the drivers from the internet and put it directly into the ringtones file. The tones will sound ALOT better using the data cable.

Yeah sounds like an interesting bit of info on it being able to borrow memory and those issues. Yeah I'll probably post some of my images thanks again. I'm getting a 1gb mini sd should be here tomorrow, there isn't anyway to set up ringers from the card is there, the manual says no but I was just hoping.
