Choosing TMobile Network on 5600

I have seen a couple of posts about the 5600 showing Cingular as the network instead of Tmobile, even though Tmobile is available. Apparently this problem is geographically specific. I live in the Los Angeles area, and I can't get my phone to properly select a Tmobile network. I was away on business, and in Houston and Minneapolis it worked perfectly. Anyone have any ideas on how to address this issue in LA? I called TMO support, and they tried to help me, but they didn't seem to understand just what the issue was.
