Hey guys I just got a MPx 220, and I was wondering if I should upgrade it to the aisin rom? It has 1.45 on their now.

Thanks in advance

Thats totally up you. Read all about the 3.45 or 3.46 ROMs and see if you would like it. I am running 3.45 right now and love it. The good thing is that you can always go back to an earlier ROM. Wait, are you sure it has 1.45? (and not 1.43) If it does have 1.45, then you wouldn't be able to go back to it. (I've never seen that ROM version floating around)

Oops sorry it's 1.43 rom, I have had the phone for two hours so I wouldn't know if there is any bugs or not? Should I upgrade for the hell of upgrading? Does 3.45 have WMP 10? What are the advantages of having this rom on my phone?

-WMP 10
-Most stable out there
-Manual Network selection
-OBEX works perfect (according to users)
-BT is better
-Not App locked
-Reg can be hacked with ease (changes stay in place even after reboot)

I'm sure others can add to the list.

thanks..i just found the links before you replied...

I have installed the 3.45 asian roms with wmp10 ...is it the most stable ver . ?

Also, i saw people asking Windows Mobile 5 for mpx220 ..is it any good ?

Running 3.46 and it's super fast, no bugs i have encountered yet. I love it. I really love the smaller font, makes reading email much easier. No WM5 yet for mpx220. Hopefully soon!

I am curious. On my previous smartphone, unread e-mail messages used to be bold, now all messages read/unread are the same. Does anyone know where to change this? I searched but could not find anything on this.

Which is why I switched back to 1.43

With the Chinese ROMs you can leave them thin, or you can make them bold....but not do what you are talking about....

And voice recognition is now UK Engish, BTW.

One question - does anybody know if xpressmail works on the unbranded ROM?
I use this great service to sync with my workplace exchange server and I'd hate to loose it.

I find it hard to believe that the asian rom can't do this. I rather think that we just don't have the correct registery settings. would you mind posting the font registery settings from your 1.43 rom, I would like to compare them agains the "fix" for bold in the asian rom.

Thanks

If you company is using Exchange 2003, you don't need it. You can connect directly to the Exchange 2003 server from your phone for e-mail, contacts, calendar.

hi,
i bought my mpx220 in greece and the rom is 1.36.
am i able to upgrade it to 3.46?

Posted by: Omega2008

Why wouldn't you be able to?...its a MPx 220 any MPx 220 ROM will go on the phone no matter where it came from.

Posted by: hondaguy

i thought that i had read somewhere that the updater tool only worked with phones sold in usa. i updated it already. went smooth.

Posted by: Omega2008

The online updater via hellomoto.com is for phones sold in the USA (Cingular or ATT branded) the offline updater which is what you have to use to upgrade to 3.45 or 3.46 is not biased on where you bought the phone.

Posted by: hondaguy

only upgraded for under an hour and already a couple of problems. the outside display wont turn off and when i look up a contact and try to dial a number by highlighting it and pushing the blue enter button it says that it cant do it. the number is a pager number that worked before i upgraded. too bad

Posted by: Omega2008

hard reset the phone. You may need to reflash....sometimes it doesn't work right....though I never had these problems that alot of other people are.

Posted by: hondaguy

I am trying the hard reset first. thanks for the info. how long have you been using this version, and have you had any problems?

Posted by: Omega2008

I have been using 3.45 for almost 2 months. No, I never had any problems that I couldn't fix or that I coudn't figure out if that is what you are asking.
