(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I am currently with t-mobile and I am switching to cingular. I am looking for a phone with a megapixel camera, mp3 player/mp3 ring tones. The phone must also have the 850/1900mhz because im in california. My budget is around the $250 mark (are there places where i can get discounts if i sign with cingular?). i also dont want any big phones

Some phones that caught my eye:
motorola v635 (really like features and everything except for the appearance)

samsung p777 from cingular for 299 with 2 yr
also the se s710a 199
moto mpx220 discountinued but look around
these prices are from cingular directlly

but you can find them much less elsewhere, even free
just shop around
google the phone you're looking for, im sure you will find any fo those mentioned above for close to free if not free with 2 yr agreement

Cingular might get a "b" version of the N6230i. It meets your requirements.

1 MP camera is going to be the toughie. Check out the Nokia 7610, the new 6682 (though that might be out of your budget), I think the s710a can do mp3s, that's all that comes to my mind.

For your requirement and budget, V635 is your best choice.
I don't know if you can get the S710 for $250.

I love my motorola v635. Id say sign up and get a free phone and buy the v635 on ebay. I got mine for 260 with shipping, plus a 16mb card. I know in my area some agents, not corp. stores have free phones and you still get the rebate so you actually make money. You should check them out.

i know a few people with s710's and they love it. good camera. good mp3 capability.

Would you really need an 850/1900 phone if you're in California?

well kinda i guess.
not really if your in SoCal

i think you can put full mp3s on a memory stick which works with the s710, that would be nice.

i heard the s710 is a little thick? -i like the looks/specs but is the swivel feature comfortable? im looking for a phone that doesn't irritate/distract me when im dancing (razr is fine because its thin) and won't boulge out of my pockets. i was really looking at the v635, that phone best fits my needs but it is "plain" looking. i might also look into the nokia 6230i but i want a bigger screen (i've had previous nokias and they worked flawlessly i just didn't like their size). if it makes any difference, i was on the verge of buying the sony ericson k750, but it doesn't have the 850 mhz.

and to answer your question, I have t-mobile at the moment (only on 1900mhz). my friends have cingular (both 850/1900) and they get service in places i dont. i live in the east bay area/tri valley (fremont/dublin)

your suggestions are great, keep them coming

According to phonescoop the v635 is actually a tiny bit thicker than the s710. I believe this is with both phones in the "closed" position. http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/co...B%5D=&id%5B%5D=

You should stop at a cingular store and go test out the sony, see if it's too big for you. I'm not sure about the moto cause i don't think you'll find it in any stores.

i agree that you should get the s710 in your hands (and pockets if your phone goes there). to me it was just a tad too think.

excellent camera and camera/phone interface though, with that big nice screen to see what you are shooting and how the pic looks afterwords, it feels much easier to use than a 1.3 digi-cam with a smaller screen.

buddy of mine just got his v635 yesterday. INCREDIBLE phone, and I'm a proud Nokia fanboy. It's very solidly built, the camera is VERY nice, and the MP3 player software on it is very friendly and easy to use. In fact I'm currently doing some exploring to see if I can't steal it for my 6230 (it's all java). It looks alot like a v180 on steroids, it's the same size as the v551, but ALOT more professional looking. If I didn't diss Motos so much at work, and know that my buddy got it for the exclusivity, I'd go get one myself. at this point, that's your best bet, plus Transflash is cheaper than MemoryStick. Also, the 6682 should be out soon, though it's not going to be as cheap.

yea the v635 is nearly as thick as the s710, but its also smaller (height/width wise) i believe?

The problem with the s710 is that it's limited to 128MB memory cards, to me that's hardly enough space for a decent mp3 collection (that's roughly 32 songs).

I'd personally pick the 6620 or the v635 over all the other phones. I'd go with the v635 if you just want a feature full phone. If you want to be able to do other things that are entertaining then get the 6620 (I believe there is a 2GB card out for it now).

But if you can afford it, the 6682 might be your best bet.

i wanted an mp3 phone (for ring stones). i wouldn't really store much maybe a maximum of 10 songs
